Furthermore, here's a look at the National Leaderboard standings.

One for the Birdshirt

The action folded to our very own Chad "Birdshirt" Holloway, who raised to 300 in middle position. A player in the small blind mad the call, and the dealer fanned {k-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts}. The player in the small blind led out for 100, which is less than a big blind, so the dealer told him to add two green T25 chips. He obliged, and Holloway called.

The turn was another nine - the {9-Clubs} - and the player led for 200. Holloway grabbed a stack of black T100 chips, raising to what looked like 675, and the player quickly folded.

Holloway is below the starting stack, but just barely.

Schedule Update

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

The tournament officials have just announced that there will be a break after every three levels of play here on Day 1a. The first break will occur at the end of the current level and will last 30 minutes. After Level 9, the 60-minute dinner break will take place for all remaining players.

From there, the field will play through Level 15 tonight before bagging and tagging their chips.

Engel Gets Aggressive

Three players, including Ari Engel, saw a flop of {6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Spades}. The action checked to Engel, who fired 450. One player called, and the other check-raised to 1,500. Engel quickly re-raised to 5,500, forcing the two other players to fold.

"He's steaming!" one of the players at the table yelped.

"Not anymore," Engel responded, grinning.

Heimiller Runs into Nuts

Dan Heimiller was faced with a 1,425-chip bet with the board reading {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. Heimiller, who recently took down the WSOP-C Main Event in Southern Indiana, made the call, and his opponent turned over {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for kings full of queens.

Heimiller mucked, and is down to 17,850 chips.
