Amanda Musumeci is here in Hammond for the World Series of Poker Circuit event, but it wasn't her first choice of events to travel to this week. Musumeci had been planning a trip to South Africa for the World Poker Tour event down there, but things didn't pan out as she thought.
According to a recent blog post from Musumeci, she had been liaising with Gary Lentin of ShuffleUpPoker. In her blog she wrote, "Gary Lentin contacted me in early August of 2012 and expressed interest in flying me out to South Africa for the upcoming WPT events there. It was at this time that we began negotiations, as he wanted to use my image/brand to help promote the new poker series out there. Within two weeks of back and forth, we fell into an agreement."
From there, Musumeci goes on to tell her story about her negotiations with Lentin and claims that things seemed to get a bit hazy between the two. Eventually, and against Musumeci's wishes according to her account, no contract was officially signed causing the trip to fall through. It was then that Musumeci decided to make the trip here to Hammond.
"I was so sad that this deal fell through. Despite my dismay with the situation, I, as per the usual, have lifted myself up and dusted off," Musumeci wrote in her blog. "The very day that I was scheduled to fly out(which was the same day I found out that I wasn't going), I decided that since my car was already packed with all my luggage, I may as well hit the road out to Hammond, Indiana (ChiTown area) for the WSOP circuit stop there. I figured it'd be a pretty cool story if I binked off Hammond's Main Event after all this drama... and so I'm here to give it a shot!!!"
So now, Musumeci is here in Hammond trekking along in this World Series of Poker Circuit event. It may not quite be South Africa, but winning well over $300,000 is the same no matter where you are in the world.
Owais Ahmed opened to 850 from the hijack seat, a player called in the cutoff, and Mukul Pahuja three-bet to 2,600 on the button. Both blinds released, Ahmed followed suit, and the player in the cutoff called.
The flop came , and the player in the cutoff led out for 4,000. Pahuja raised to 10,600, and his opponent folded.
Pahuja raked in the pot, and is now flirting with 70,000 chips.

Normally, live multi-tabling is only seen at the World Series of Poker in the summertime out in Las Vegas, but there has been an occurrence of it today in Hammond. Nick Jivkov, winner of WSOP Event 5: $1,500 Pot-Limit Hold'em and former final tablist from this event in 2010, is playing the Main Event here today along with the $365 Limit Omaha Hi/Lo event. In the latter of those two, he's down to the final three players, which includes Chad Brown.
On break from that final table, Jivkov decided not to go to the bathroom, but rather to head over to his Main Event seat, albeit after some help from the floor staff locating his new seat because his original table broke. He promptly got involved in a hand, which turned out to be his last.
After an under-tune-gun raise from Dale Robinson to 1,025, action folded to Jivkov in the cutoff seat. He reraised and made it 2,500 to go. Play folded back to Robinson, and he re-popped things to 6,000. Jivkov moved all in for a little over 20,000, and Robinson called.
"What you got?" asked Jivkov before seeing Robinson table the . "Two kings?" he continued with a shake of his head as he saw the hand. Jivkov then showed the for a dominated hand.
The flop, turn and river ran out , and Jivkov was eliminated.
"Just couldn't keep the dream alive," commented a departing Jivkov, who was able to catch the last few minutes of his break from the other event's final table before getting back into action. And lucky for him, Jivkov has the opportunity to continue the dream tomorrow as the Main Event boasts a re-entry format.
