Raghavan Gone

Ravi Raghavan called an opponent's all-in bet for 12,000 with the {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}. Unfortunately for him, his hand couldn't beat the {9-Spades}{9-Hearts} as the board ran out {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}{8-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. After sending over the chips, Raghavan was left with just 2,100. He was then eliminated shortly after in unknown action.

Sunny Makes Quads

Hiren "Sunny" Patel makes quads
Hiren "Sunny" Patel makes quads

Hiren "Sunny" Patel was faced with a bet of 11,000 on a board of {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Clubs}{k-Clubs}. After tanking for the better part of a minute, he grabbed a tower of yellow T1,000 chips and orange T5,000 chips, and slid it forward, moving all in.

His opponent sat back in his chair, and re-checked his cards. Crossing his arms, he stared at the board thoughtfully, then eventually pushed forward the remainder of his stack.

Patel turned over {j-Spades}{j-Clubs} for quad jacks, and his opponent could only smile. Patel offered a handshake to the eliminated player, then began stacking his newfound chips.

Elpayaa Busts Holloway

Chad Holloway
Chad Holloway

Action folded to the hijack seat, and that player raised to 1,125. Blair Hinkle flat-called from the cutoff seat, then Joseph Elpayaa reraised to 3,400 on the button. PokerNews' own Chad Holloway reraised all in from the small blind for 8,225, and action folded back to Elpayaa. He called with the {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and held the same suit as Holloway's {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

The flop gave Elpayaa three queens when the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{7-Hearts} fell and vaulted Elpayaa into the lead. The turn was the {8-Spades} and river the {10-Clubs}, which eliminated Holloway here on Day 1b.

Jaka Drops One

Faraz Jaka
Faraz Jaka

From the button, Faraz Jaka raised to 1,100. The big blind made the call, and the dealer dealt the {Q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop. On the flop, the big blind checked, Jaka bet 600, and the big blind called.

The {8-Spades} was added to the board on the turn, and the big blind checked. Jaka bet 1,050, and the big blind called. The river was the {2-Clubs}, and both players checked.

The big blind showed the {J-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a turned pair of eights, and Jaka mucked his hand.

Kessler Makes History Against Gaspard; Gaspard Then Busts

Walking by Allen Kessler's table, he informed us that he just beat former World Series of Poker Circuit champion Jean "Prince" Gaspard out of a hand for "the first time ever!" Kessler said he had pocket fours on a board of {2-}{3-}{5-}{5-}{6-} and that Gaspard claimed to have two jacks.

Gaspard then got his last 10,000 or so in on the {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop with the {J-Spades}{4-Spades}. His opponent held the {8-Spades}{6-Spades} for a weaker flush draw, but after a run out of the {4-Hearts} on the turn and the {7-Clubs} on the river, Gaspard had lost to his opponent's ten-high straight and was eliminated.
