Watson Gets a Few Double Ups

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

William Watson got his last 27,800 in from the small blind on a {3-Spades}{5-Spades}{a-Spades} flop, and Bob Beck had him at risk with a call on the button.

William Watson: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Bob Beck: {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

Watson, who won his third WSOPC ring earlier this week, needed a spade to double through Beck after the {6-Clubs} fell on the turn, and the {4-Spades} on the river did the trick for Watson.

"Back-to-back double ups!" Watson's neighbor to his left said, while Watson stacked up his newfound chips.

James Continues to Build

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Four players saw a {6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{10-Spades} flop together, and the under the gun player bet 5,200. Only Robert James in middle position made the call.

The {k-Diamonds} fell on the turn, and the under the gun player bet 6,100. James raised to 25,000, and the under the gun player, who didn't have much more behind, tanked for a minute before flicking his cards to the muck.

Smith Puts a Foe in the Tank

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

There was already a pot of 25,000, when Kenny Smith checked in middle position. The button bet 24,000, and Smith responded with a check-raise shove for 60,400.

The button went deep into the tank for a few minutes, and eventually a clock was called. With only a few seconds left on the clock, the button slowly nudged his cards to the dealer.

"You're off life support, baby!" Alan Cutler told Smith, who simply nodded and started stacking up chips.

A player raised to 2,300 from middle position, and Timothy Burden called on the button. Robert James three-bet to 8,500 from the small blind, and only Burden called.

James bet 8,000 on the {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop, and Burden quickly tossed three 5,000 chips into the pot, which was ruled a raise to 16,000. James quickly announced "All in," for Burden's last 25,000, and Burden immediately flung his cards to the muck.

Tim Garles, Event #9 Champ
Tim Garles, Event #9 Champ

A player raised to 2,600 from the button, and Tim Garles, who won his first WSOPC ring today in Event #9: $400 No-Limit Hold'em, called from the big blind.

Garles checked the {q-Spades}{2-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop over to the button, who bet 2,500. Garles called.

The {6-Diamonds} fell on the turn, and Garles checked again. The button bet 7,000, and Garles called again.

Garles checked for a third time on the {k-Clubs} river, and the button bet 5,500. Garles quickly called, and the button said, "You're good." Garles flipped over {k-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a flush draw that ended up with top pair on the river, and he took down the pot.

Horsman, Bazeley Chop

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Jake Bazeley raised to 3,500 from under the gun, and Bill Horsman called next to act.

Bazeley bet another 3,500 on the {k-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop, and Horsman called.

The {a-Clubs} fell on the turn, and Bazeley checked. Horsman bet 8,000 and Bazeley called.

Both players checked the {j-Diamonds} river, and Bazeley tabled {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for aces-up.

"Spade!" Horsman said ruefully, flipping over {a-Spades}{10-Spades} for aces-up as well, but Horsman's ace-ten was freerolling on the flop with the nut flush draw. Instead, the duo chopped up the pot.
