Day 3 of the WSOP Circuit Thunder Valley Main Event Begins at Noon

Arish Nat
Arish Nat

The final table is upon us in the World Series of Poker Circuit Thunder Valley $1,700 Main Event. The tournament played down to the final nine on Day 2, and those nine players battled at the final table for about 45 minutes until Sunday's play was ended at the end of Level 24.

The trio of Roman Shainiuk (2,315,000), Paul Chai (2,275,000) and Arish Nat (2,080,000) will return as the biggest stacks when play restarts today at noon.

Terence Reardon (1,560,000) and Travis Fujisaka (1,540,000) are right behind the leaders, and the WSOPC ring and $130,667 first prize are truly up for grabs. Following those deep-stacked players are the shorter stacks like Paul Richardson (855,000), Soumitra Nagar (750,000), Bobby Pham (745,000) and Landen Lucas (300,000).

Today's restart begins with Level 25 and the blinds at 15000/30000, with a 30,000 big blind ante. The final nine will play 60-minute levels, with 15-minute breaks after every two levels, and a 60-minute dinner break scheduled for after Level 30. With five of the remaining nine players coming into today's play with 50 big blinds or more, the eventual winner of the Main Event will have a tough road to the championship at the Thunder Valley Poker Room in Lincoln, CA.

Richardson is the most accomplished of the final nine, with $540,348 in career earnings. This marks Richardson's fourth final table appearance in the WSOPC Thunder Valley Main Event, as he's finished fourth twice (in 2017 and 2018), and eighth in the January 2019 Thunder Valley stop for the WSOPC.

Arish Nat also has a six-figure total in career tournament earnings, and he'll be trying to add a deep final table run to his $183,150 career total. Nash is no stranger to success at Thunder Valley, with multiple cashes across several series.

Fujisaka is another player with a long list of accomplishments at Thunder Valley, and the Main Event final table will certainly have a local feel for these players.

The winner of the Main Event is guaranteed to be a first-time WSOP Circuit ring winner. All remaining players have already earned at least a ninth-place payday of $11,634, but they're no doubt looking to cash in on the six-figure first prize and prestige of a WSOPC ring event championship.

The first big hand of the final table evolved 25 minutes into the day's first level.

Roman Shainiuk opened to 90,000 from early position, and Paul Chai three-bet to 285,000 from the hijack. Travis Fujisakavis Fujisaka then started counting out pink T100,000 chips, appearing like he was ready to make a big move.

Fujisaka did just that, four-betting to 900,000. Shainiuk quickly folded.

Paul Chaii then went all in with the rest of his 3,100,000 total stack, and Fujisaka snap called.

Travis Fujisaka: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Paul Chai: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

Board: {8-Hearts}{5-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

It was about as good of a situation as Fujisaka could hope for, with the queens well ahead of Paul Chaii's pocket jacks. The runout came out pure for Fujisaka, who scored a big double at the final table.

Chai Turns Three Treys To Double

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Paul Chai
Paul Chai

Paul Chai saw action folded to him in the small blind and raised to 195,000, putting action on Travis Fujisaka in the big blind. Fujisaka three-bet, sliding a decently-sized pile of pink T100,000 chips forward. Chai put all of his chips in and Fujisaka called off the difference.

Paul Chai: {k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Travis Fujisaka: {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

Though his two unpaired cards were live, Chai wasn't thrilled to see that his diamonds were not. A three came in the window on the flop {3-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts} but there was a five-ball underneath, leaving him drawing even slimmer. The turn then fell {3-Spades} to improve him to trip treys, leaving him with two outs to sweat on the final card to earn a double. The river came {2-Clubs} and his stack was counted out to 830,000, which Fujisaka paid off.

"You're crazy, man," said Terence Reardon as Chai raked in his chips.

"Crazy good!" amended Paul Richardson.

"Crazy good," agreed Reardon.

Soumitra Nagar

Travis Fujisaka opened to 105,000 from the hijack, and Soumitra Nagar three-bet all in for his 420,000 stack. Fujisaka, having Nagar covered, made the call.

Soumitra Nagar: {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Travis Fujisaka: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

Board: {6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{6-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Fujisaka was well ahead preflop, and no luck came in for Nagar on the runout. Nagar is the first casualty of the final table as the first break of the day approaches.

Arish Nat opened to 110,000 under the gun, and Travis Fujisaka called on the button.

Landen Lucas: {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Arish Nat: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

Board: {7-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{a-Spades}{8-Clubs}

As time was expiring on the clock in Level 25 and the tournament director was announcing a break, Bobby Pham shoved all in from the hijack. The rest of the table had stood up as action folded to Terence Reardon, who quickly announced a call.

Terence Reardon: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Bobby Pham: {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}

The board ran out {5-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{8-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{9-Hearts} to give Pham a set on the flop, which proved to be good when the runout was completed. Both stacks were counted, with Pham having 730,000 and Reardon having 635,000. As such, Reardon found himself dry on chips as the seventh-place finisher in the tournament, taking home $18,810 for his efforts.

Chai Doubles Through Nat

Level 28 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Paul Chai
Paul Chai

Arish Nat was in the cutoff and put out a raise to 150,000. He was called by Roman Shainiuk, who was on the button, and Paul Chai three-bet all in from the big blind. Nat quickly announced a call, prompting a fold from Shainiuk.

Paul Chai: {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Arish Nat: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The two were off to the races as the flop came {j-Spades}{3-Spades}{k-Hearts}, giving Nat four more outs to Broadway in addition to his two overcards. The turn {2-Clubs} cut the number of chances that Nat had for the knockout in half, leaving Chai to sweat 10 outs on the pending river. It fell {8-Hearts} to secure the double, giving him newfound life in the process.

Roman Shainiuk was in the cutoff and announced he was all in. Paul Chai asked for a count once action was upon him in the small blind. In total, Shainiuk had shoved for 1.17 million. Chai called.

Roman Shainiuk: {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Paul Chai: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}

Stacks had gone in and the two gentlemen were in a coin flip situation for Shainiuk's tournament life.

"Red," Chai said, calling for three red cards on the flop. The flop came {j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}, as he asked, though it gave Shainiuk a gutshot straight draw in addition to his two overcards. Unfortunately for him, the turn {5-Spades} and river {j-Hearts} were of no help and he was eliminated in fifth place.

Richardson Gets Tricky With Aces, Takes the Chip Lead

Level 29 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Paul Richardson
Paul Richardson

Arish Nat raised to 200,000 from the button and Paul Richardson called from the small blind. Paul Chai was in the big blind and defended, taking action three ways to the streets.

The flop came {j-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and action checked to Nat, who made a continuation-bet of 225,000. Richardson called and Chai quickly folded. Both remaining players checked the turn {10-Spades}.

The river fell {4-Clubs} and Richardson fired out a bet of 500,000. Nat put out chips to call.

Richardson tabled {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} for aces up. Nat was about to table his hand until he saw Richardson's bullets, prompting him to send the cards onto the felt face down instead as the pot was sent Richardson's way. WIth the pot, he has seemingly pulled ahead of Nat slightly and now finds himself as chip leader with four still remaining.
