World Championship Seniors Texas Hold'em Big Field

There were over 2,000 Seniors entered in the event an hour ago and still counting. This should be a great time for the "Big Kids" of the field. The Seniors age limit is 50! That's still very young to everyone here today. I'm sure we will have some that "qualify" as seniors in the event. We will keep you posted on the progress.

Players Are Taking Their Seats

Looks like an energetic group to me. Once the players were allowed to head for their seats, there was a sprint across the room. I think they have been working out and preparing. Their card hands look very strong. I'm sure the stories will be great for the new players and the ones that have been here before will be happy to share their stories from previous years. All in all, it should be a fun field.

Shuffle Up and Deal

Nolan Dalla has made some announcements and welcomed all the seniors. "Oklahoma Johnny" Bill has lead everyone in saying the Pledge of Allegiance with him, honored all the members of the Hall of Fame who have passed on and said a word of support to our men and women defending our country. And now, cards are in the air.

Other Notables

Paul McKinney was the oldest person to win this event in 2005 and he's in the field today, trying to break his own record. Susie Isaacs, Barbara Enright, Paul Magriel, Dan Alspach, Shirley Williams, Miami John Cernuto, Chau Giang, Frank Brabek and Kathleen Gliva are also in the field.

Miami John Building an Early Stack

A player raised it to 200 from middle position and Miami John Cernuto re-raised it to 600 and was called. On a A-J-9 flop, Cernuto bet 600 and the other player re-raised all-in for 1200 total. Cernuto showed A-K to his opponent's A-Q. The turn and river were 10-7 and Cernuto is up to 5,000 chips.
