Miami John Cernuto has temporarily left the field to rejoin the $1.5K Mixed Hold'em event in its second day. He leaves the Senior's field with about 5,800 chips and says he will return to the Seniors events on breaks.
Amarillo Slim Preston held pocket Queens when Alan Smurfit held A-K, and when the flop brought both a King and a Queen you knew there'd be fireworks. All the money ended up in the middle and a fourth Queen on the river guaranteed Slim the pot and brought his stack up to 13,000.
With Men "The Master" raised to 650 and another played popped it to 1300. Nguyen called and when the flop came Q-8-2 he moved all-in. The other player showed and, unlike the time Nguyen held aces, they held up, dropping him to 500 in chips.
Brad Dougherty reraised all-in for 1,500 and the player under-the-gun called. Dougherty had and his opponent had . The flop came , Dougherty took the pot and doubled up to 3,500.
Down to just 500 in chips a few hands ago, Men "The Master" Nguyen is now up to over 4,000, thanks to a couple of big hands. After chipping up a bit he open-pushed under the gun with and was called by a player with . Nguyen spiked a 5 on the flop and his pair held up to boost his stack to 2,000.
A few hands later "The Master" called a 500 raise along with two other players and, when the flop came , moved all-in. The other players folded and Nyguen now sits with 4,000.
Men "The Master" Nguyen has just been eliminated, and guess what? He ran into Aces again! After Nguyen raised to 800 with the player in the small blind re-raised to 1750. and Nguyen called. The flop came and when the small blind moved in Men called with his open-ended straight draw.
And found that, once again, he was up against Aces. And, again, he wasn't able to crack those Aces the way his own pair of bullets were cracked early on. And that ended Men "The Master's" eventful afternoon.
A player pushed all-in from under-the-gun, R.C. Sadler called from middle postion, along with a late position player and the small blind. The small blind had A-K, UTG had J-J, Sadler had A-A and the late position player had Q-Q. All was quiet as the board came 5-4-9-A-7. Now that was a hand to watch unfold. Stiff competion, but the aces not only held up, but "turned" into a set. What more could you ask for? After the hand, Sadler was up to 22,000.
