Jeff Madsen: Prop Bet Loser

Jeff "The Jester" Madsen
Jeff "The Jester" Madsen
Jeff Madsen was the unfortunate loser in a three-way WSOP prop bet between himself, Gavin Smith, and Joe Sebok. Based on a point system that measured their success in the preliminary no-limit hold'em events (as well as two "joker" events of their choice), Madsen came up short and per the terms of the bet, was forced to play his Main Event Day 1 in a jester suit.

"The Jester" was just involved in his first big confronation of the day. A late position player raised to 400, Madsen called from the cutoff, and the big blind called. The flop was {K-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. The big blind checked, the late position player checked, Madsen bet 1,000, the big blind folded and the LP player called. The turn was the {10-Hearts}. The LP player checked, Madsen fired out 2,000 and the LP player called. The river was the {4-Diamonds}. The LP player checked again, Madsen bet 5,000 and his opponent called.

Madsen showed {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs} for a set of jacks and his opponent mucked. After the hand, he was up to 29,000 and looked just a bit more comfortable in his felt get-up.

Everybody Loves Raymond

Ray Romano
Ray Romano
Actor Ray Romano is among the celebrities playing in today's event. His table was broken and before the remaining players left, they asked Romano to autograph their hats.

ESPN camers followed behind Romano as he walked across the room to his new table. He happened to come across Brad Garrett's table, who was a fellow cast member on "Everbody Loves Raymond."

"Brad what are you doing wearing your hat on backwards?" said Romano. "Have you been watching too much poker on TV?"

"Go away, Ray!" joked Garrett. "You bring me bad luck."

Huck Seed Chips Up

Seed check-called a 1,100 bet after the {5-Clubs}{7-Spades}{9-Spades} flop and a 3,000 bet after the {Q-Hearts} turned, but when the {8-Hearts} fell on the river Seed fired out an 8K bet and his opponent folded. Seed is now up to 22,000.

Small Pot For Maguire

Tobey Maguire was heads up on the flop against an under the gun player.

Flop: {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Spades}

Maguire made it 500 to go and his opponent called. They both checked the {10-Spades} on the turn, but his opponent bet out 300 when the {A-Spades} fell on the river. Maguire made the call and won the hand after showing {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades} for the flush. His opponent flashed the {7-Spades} before mucking.

Ahh!!! These Giant Nuts Will Enslave Us All!!

Whoops, no need to panic, it's not an alien invasion of eight-foot tall legumes. Planters is one of the official sponsors of the World Series of Poker and Mr. Peanut has just made an appearance. He's walking around the Amazon Room, shaking hands and posing for pictures.
