It's Like Aces Only Better

Billy Baxter just found himself in the ideal situation. Dealt a pat {7-?} {5-?} {4-?} {3-?} {2-?}, otherwise know as "the nuts" in this game, Baxter got his last 40,000 into the middle and picked up a caller. Needless to say, Baxter now sits on roughly 80,000.

Players Are On a Break

With the relatively late start time of this event, the players are on an extended 30 minute break. While it's not a full dinner break, it is the longest scheduled break of day 1 play. The rebuy period is officially over and anyone who wishes to rebuy and/or add on must do so prior to leaving the table. Play will resume at approximately 9:00pm PDT.

Harman Pushes Everyone Out

After one of Jennifer Harman's opponents raised to 2,000 and Daniel Alaei reraised to 7,000, Harman pushed all in for about 30,000 after looking at her first four cards. Both players immediately folded, allowing Harman to pick up the pot.

Kicker Problems

Oh, those pesky kickers. Even in deuce-to-seven, they can be problematic. Mickey Appleman was all in before the draw and was called by Matt Glantz. Appleman stood pat; Glantz drew one. After the draw, Glantz showed a very rough ten: T-9-7-6-5. Appleman also had a rough ten, but it was just a little less rough than Glantz's: T-9-7-6-2. Appleman's deuce kicker played to allow him to take down the pot. Glantz was eliminated a few hands later.

Wi Fi down

The wireless is currently experiencing problems in the Amazon room. We are currently waiting for it to go live again so that the current hands and results can be uploaded.

Ferguson Chips Up

We caught up to this hand after the draw. Chris Ferguson bet 5,000 and was called by Robert Mizrachi. Ferguson showed a 9-8, which was enough to take the pot. After the hand, his stack increased to 84,000. Mizrachi dipped to about 50,000.

Double Dipping

Several people have asked us how Erik Seidel wound up in today's tournament, knowing that he was slated to play the final table of Event #14, $10,000 Seven-Card Stud World Championship. Seidel busted in fifth place in the stud tournament, just before the late registration period ended for deuce-to-seven. He hustled over to the cage and got his registration in the nick of time.
