Steve Zolotow Nearly Doubles Up

Hold'em:

Steve Zolotow raised under the gun and was called by Doug Ganger in the big blind. Both the flop and turn were checked. On the river, with the board showing {6-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {4-Spades} {6-Spades} {2-Diamonds} , Ganger fired a bet and Zolotow called. Zolotow showed {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} and Ganger said, "Good call. Seven high."

After the hand Zolotow moved up to around 180,000 in chips

Marcel Gets Quartered

Omaha Hi/Lo:

Marcel Luske raised preflop, check-raised on the flop, bet the turn and checked the river to his opponent Doug Ganger on a board of {10-Hearts}{4-Spades}{K-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{8-Clubs}.

Ganger casually tossed out a bet on the river which Luske quickly called tabling {A-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{A-Spades}{10-Clubs}. Ganger showed {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{J-Spades}{9-Spades} for the same low to go with the nut flush for the high. Ganger collects three-quarters of the pot, and Luske only receives a small refund with one-quarter of the pot.

The Cheering Section

Above us sitting on the upper deck of the No Limit Lounge are several supporters for Hoyt Corkins. When Corkins wins a pot, you don't hear loud boisterous screams, chants, or random pep sayings. Instead, you might hear a couple of people do a muted "whoo" and politely clap. You would almost think we were watching Tiger Woods sink a putt for par. A much different scene than the adjoining No Limit event where even a minor pot seems to be cause for rowdy celebration.

Zolotow Gets Razzed

Razz:

On sixth street Steve Zolotow was showing 4-2-J-4 and made the call against the bet of Jens Voertmann who held 5-8-3-4. On the river both players checked and Voertmann declared "seven" flipping A-7-9 for a seven-low. Zolotow flashed 5-6-X as his attempted draw missed on the river.

Zolotow is now down to 125,000 chips.

Stud:

Steve Zolotow committed all of his chips on fourth street against Hoyt Corkins and the boards ran out as follows:

Zolotow: ({3-Clubs}{9-Clubs}) {9-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{8-Hearts} (X)
Corkins: ({K-Spades}{6-Spades}) {5-Spades}{8-Spades}{J-Hearts}-X ({A-Spades})

Before the river was flipped, Zolotow said "Please tell me I don't have to look" in jest but was dismayed when Corkins flipped the {A-Spades} to complete the nut flush to leave Zolotow drawing dead. He exits in 6th place for $47,990.

Stud:

Jared Davis bet out on the river showing a board of {Q-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {10-Clubs} {6-Hearts} . Jens Voertmann showing {A-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {6-Clubs} raised enough to put Davis all in. Davis made the call. Voertmann showed ({A-Spades} {A-Hearts} {K-Spades}) for a set of aces and Davis mucked his hand.

Jared Davis finishes this $3,000 H.O.R.S.E. event in 5th place, taking home $61,702.

Hoyt Corkins Eliminated in 4th Place ($81,698)

The betting was capped preflop between Hoyt Corkins and Marcel Luske. On a flop of {A-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {K-Diamonds} a raising war ensued and by the time it was three bet, Corkins was all in. Luske asked, "How good is your kicker?"

Luske: {A-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}
Corkins: {K-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}

Luske had top pair and Corkins had a gutshot straight draw. The turn gave Luske trip aces when the {A-Spades} fell. A {3-Hearts} on the river sealed Corkins' fate and makes him our 4th place finisher.

Voertmann Claims Final Hold'em Pot

Hold'em:

In the final hand of hold'em, Jens Voertmann bet the whole way with Marcel Luske folding on the river but Doug Ganger calling him down.

The board read {10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{A-Hearts} and Ganger said "I have to call, there's only one heart that beats me!" as he slid out his chips for a call. Voertmann had that heart as he showed {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} for the nut flush. Ganger flashed the {Q-Hearts} as Voertmann collects a nice pot.
