Good Call for Winston

Roy Winston has made an excellent call to eliminate an opponent and propel his stack up to 9,000. The opponent reraised all in on a {2-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} flop, and Winston called with {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} -- his opponent was holding {A-Hearts} {7-Spades} and is no more.

Book Club

After adding another bracelet to an already sparkling wrist, many people (well, just me really) were wondering what Barry does with his book if he actually wins the event. Surely, he can't give it to himself, can he?

"It varies," explained Barry. "Last night I gave it to the Tournament Director because he seemed like a nice guy, but after the WPT event I won I gave it to Steve Lipscomb because I called a big bluff from him when we were both big chip leaders. Another tournament I gave it to the guy I put the worst beat on."

Come on, Barry, what do us bloggers have to do to get our dirty mitts on one of those books? It seems like every man and his dog has a copy except me.

Like The Wind

The depleted number of players per table is clearly making a difference to today's proceedings. We've already lost ten tables, and that's just in the Amazon Room!

Pescatori Makes Opponent Walk the Plank

Arrrr me hearties
Arrrr me hearties
Max Pescatori is steaming ahead on 11,500. Most recently, he bet 1,100 on an {A-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {10-Spades} flop, and called the big blind's all in check-raise for more than 2,000. The big blind was holding {A-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} for top pair, but Pescatori was holding {10-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} for two pair, and the {2-Spades} turn and {9-Spades} river changed nothing.

Beth Shak Eliminated

After seeing a flop of {3-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} , Beth Shak shoved her remaining 2,275 chips into the middle. Shak's pair of fours was behind as her opponent revealed {8-Spades} {9-Hearts}. A turn of {3-Hearts} brought no help, and a river {8-Hearts} only added insult to injury.

Boeken Down... And Out

Noah Boeken
Noah Boeken
Noah Boeken is down to just 1,400. Blind on blind, he bet the 150 on the {2-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} board from the big blind position, and the small blind called him. The river was the {9-Diamonds} and the small blind bet out 500; Noah folded, showing {9-?} {5-?}.

And a few hands later, in circumstances unknown, Boeken quietly threw the rest of his chips in and disappeared.

Jamie's Deuces Turn to Gold

Jamie Gold moved all in preflop and was set for a showdown as he held {2-Spades} {2-Hearts} to his opponent's {8-Clubs} {8-Hearts} . Gold was not behind for long as the door card was the {2-Clubs} and the flop filled out {5-Spades} {K-Diamonds} . The board ran out two harmless blanks as the set of deuces was good enough to move Gold up to 7,600 in chips.
