Mantis Eliminated

Glen Chorny
Glen Chorny
One member of the Hit Squad is gone, Karl 'Mantis' Mahrenholz tasting dust just moments ago.

Still remaining on his former table, however, is 2008 EPT Grand Final Champion Glen Chorny, who recently won over 2.6 million dollars for his win in Monte Carlo.

Today, he has burst out of the blocks with 10,200 in chips.

A Pham/Le Affair

Nam Le is a goner, raising utg with K-Q and calling a reraise, then moving all in on the Q-9-4 flop. His opponent was holding pocket kings.

Also gone is David Pham -- down to just 750, he pushed preflop with {K-Spades} {J-Clubs} but was called by {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs} which only improved on the {6-Spades} {6-Hearts} {5-Spades} {A-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} board.

Humberto Brenes Eliminated

Costa Rican legend Humberto Brenes departed with a smile and a twinkle in his eye, mumbling something about two big hands decimating his stack.

"Tomorrow," he said as he exited the room.

Cousineau's A-K Is Good

Tony Cousineau limped utg, and then called big blind Fu "Grasshopper" Wong's raise to 300. He also called Wong's 300 bet on the {Q-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {K-Spades} flop and 400 bet on the {3-Spades} turn -- "Stop milking it," said Cousineau, "It's getting painful over here." Both players checked the {7-Clubs} river, and Wong mucked at showdown to Cousineau's {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs}.

Golf versus Poker

His eye on the ball

It would appear today that golf is winning this battle as the hordes of poker players swamping the Amazon Room refuse to take their eyes off the plasma screens.

Over in the Brasilia Room, Maciek "Michael" Gracz has spent most of the last half hour sitting on the floor under the nearest screen as Tiger dominates the fairways.

However, his attention was drawn back to the tournament when he flopped bottom set holding {4-Clubs}{4-Spades} on a flop of {9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. Sadly for Gracz, his opponent held {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for a bigger set leaving the former WPT winner with a depleted stack of 1,400.

Black Hits Gutshot Straight Flush

Andy Black bet out on the flop with an open-ended straight draw and a flush draw; his opponent raised and Black reraised to put him all in. The opponent called, and Black hit his straight on the turn to eliminate his opponent, and hit a gratuitous gutshot straight flush for good measure on the river.

He's now on 10,700.
