Nice Board There

Django Young just doubled through Kyle Kloeckner. Young held {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{6-Spades}. The flop came Q-6-4, giving Young a set. Sixes on both the turn and river weren't needed, but Young didn't mind 'em. Quads--with an ace kicker to boot--tend to make one feel pretty good about a hand.

Young is up to 105,000. Kloeckner, meanwhile, is still near the chip lead with 395,000.

Pick Your Battles

Play is tightening up even more as we near the cash bubble. As players pass small stacks of chips back and forth, the table talk is increasing.

Just passed Table No. 63, where the following was overheard: "I'd rather fight a tiger with a knife than a grizzly with a gun."

Not sure of context, but it sounds like the subject of choosing one's battles carefully is on everyone's mind with just four to go before the money.

Aces No Match For Aces

Jerrod Ankenman and Varahram Vardjavand have clashed for a second time today with the latter looking to double up through the former again. Both had aces, but it would be the other two cards in the hole that would do the damage for one.

Ankenman had {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {9-Hearts}.
Vardjavand had {A-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {A-Spades}.

The board came {J-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {8-Hearts}.

The straight for Ankenman means he got the chips back he gave to Vardjavand earlier, eliminating him in the process.

Ankenman on 250,000 now.

Flack Building Back Stack

Layne Flack
Layne Flack
Layne Flack limped from the button, Michael Schwartz completed from the small blind, and Jerrod Ankenman checked his option in the big blind.

The flop came {Q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, and all three checked. The turn was the {9-Hearts}. Ankenman bet 5,000, Flack called, and Schwartz folded.

The river was the {3-Clubs}. Ankenman quickly bet 15,000, and Flack quickly called. Ankenmann showed {J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for a couple of busted draws. Flack showed {A-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for trip sevens.

After losing a few small pots, Flack is back up to 150,000. Ankenman still has a nice stack of 310,000.
