Brunson, Cassidy, and Hanson Chop it Up

Hey man, at least I wasn't quartered
Hey man, at least I wasn't quartered
Omaha-8:

Todd Brunson raised from the button, Joe Cassidy called from the small blind and John Hanson called from the big blind. The flop was {A-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}. Cassidy and Hanson checked to Brunson, who bet, Cassidy called, Hanson raised and both Brunson and Cassidy called. The turn was the {A-Hearts} and the action was checked around. The river was the {4-Hearts}. Cassidy checked, Hanson bet, Brunson raised, and both Cassidy and Hanson called.

Brunson: {2-Spades} {4-Spades} {4-Clubs} {5-Spades}

Cassidy: {2-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {8-Clubs}

Hanson: {2-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}

Brunson won the high half with fours full of aces while Hansen and Cassidy split the low, both holding 7-4-3-2-A.

David Benyamine Eliminated

David Benyamine - Eliminated
David Benyamine - Eliminated
Stud-8:

David Benyamine has made his exit. He tangled in a pot with Doyle Brunson and came up short. Benyamine was all in on sixth street and the players showed:

Brunson: ({7-Clubs}) ({6-Hearts}) {2-Clubs} {4-Spades} {3-Spades} {A-Hearts} ({7-Diamonds})
Benyamine: ({2-Diamonds}) ({6-Diamonds}) {7-Spades} {6-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} (X)

After Doyle exposed his whole hand, Benyamine slowly peeked at his river card before flicking it into the muck. He stood up and headed for the exit.

Ted Forrest Cripples John Hanson

Omaha-8:

Ted Forrest just trimmed 35,000 chips off of John Hanson. The exact action is unclear but on a board of {10-Clubs} {10-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} Forrest tabled {A-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {8-Spades} for quad tens. Hanson mucked and was left with just 21,000 chips. Forrest meanwhile surges to just over 260,000.

That's the Nuts Baby

Omaha-8:

Michael DeMichele raised from early position and Scotty Nguyen reraised from middle position. Action folded to Mark Gregorich on the button and he flat-called and DeMichele called behind.

The flop came {Q-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {6-Clubs} and DeMichele checked. Nguyen bet and Gregorich folded. DeMichele raised and Scotty made the call. The turn came the {10-Diamonds} and DeMichele bet. Scotty again made the call. The river came the {9-Spades} and it again went bet-call.

DeMichele rolled over {A-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} and Nguyen mucked. Both players are now roughly even in chips with about 184,000.

John D'Agostino Eliminated

Omaha-8:

The exact action is unclear, but John D'Agostino was ousted when Steve Zolotow tabled {J-?} {J-?} (X) (X) on a {Q-?} {J-?} {9-?} {9-?} (X) board. JDags headed for the rail while Steve Z is up to just under 140,000 in chips.

Minieri Scoops

Dario Minieri

Omaha-8:

We caught up to this hand on the turn. With the board reading {K-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}, Raymond Davis checked from the small blind. Doyle Brunson checked from the big blind and Dario Minieri checked behind from late position.

The river fell the {A-Diamonds} and Brunson bet. David called and Minieri raised. Both Brunson and Davis called and Dario tabled {3-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {7-Spades}. Minieri had nut low but his flush was good for high as Brunson and Davis both threw their hands away.

Gus Hansen Can't Hang on Any Longer

Omaha-8:

After using up all of his nine lives Gus Hansen was eliminated from the tournament. Hansen survived a bunch of all-ins and always seemed to be doubling up or on the brink, but this time he wasn't able to escape the inevitable. Hansen limped under the gun, and after Allen Cunningham called, Thor Hansen raised to 6,000. Gus and Allen called and on we went to the flop.

Which came {K-Hearts} {K-Spades} {4-Spades}. Gus bet 3,000, Allen raised and Thor reraised. Gus called for his last 5,200 and after Cunningham got out of the way Gus had a flush draw and backdoor low draw with {A-Spades} {3-Spades} {7-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} to Thor's {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}. The {8-Hearts} on the turn brought Gus no help nor did the {8-Clubs} on the river. Gus didn't make his flush, didn't make a low hand, and his night finally came to an end.

Hasan Habib Eliminated

Hold'em:

With only around 10,000 left Hasan Habib moved all in with {A-Clubs} {5-Hearts} and Greg Mueller called in the big blind with {7-Hearts} {6-Clubs}. The {10-Hearts} {8-Spades} {9-Clubs} gave Mueller a straight and pretty much ended the drama, and Habib was eliminated.
