Play Slows Down

As we approach the bubble, and the end of level 8, the action has slowed considerably. Fewer and fewer hands are seeing a showdown and the big stacks seem content to throw those borderline hands away and coast into a payday.

Danny Ryan Doubles Up

Danny Ryan just found himself in a near ideal situation. He was all in preflop holding {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs} against his opponent who held the {K-Diamonds} {K-Spades}. Ryan's hand held up and he doubled up to just under 30,000 chips.

Lou Esposito Eliminated

Action folded around to Lou Esposito on the button and he moved all in for roughly 2,000. The small blind reraised all in and the big blind passed. The players showed:

Esposito: {Q-Spades} {10-Clubs}
Opponent: {K-Clubs} {9-Clubs}

The board missed both players as it ran out {8-Hearts} {8-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} and Lou Esposito was eliminated.

Nath Pizzolatto Takes One Down

Action folded to Nath Pizzolatto and he raised to 2,600 from middle position. The player in the cutoff seat moved all in for 8,900 and Pizzolatto made the call. The players showed:

Pizzolatto: {K-?} {5-?}
Opponent: {9-?} {9-?}

The board ran out {A-?} {A-?} {Q-?} {6-?} {K-?} and Pizzolatto's aces and kings were best. He eliminated a player and stacked up to just over 75,000.

David Pham Eliminated

David Pham - Eliminated
David Pham - Eliminated
After a raise to 3,000 from middle position, David Pham moved all in from the cutoff seat for 13,000. The raiser called and the players showed:

Pham: {J-Clubs} {J-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}

The flop was dry for both players as it fell {9-Hearts} {8-Spades} {2-Clubs}. The turn was the {3-Clubs} giving Pham's opponent a flush draw to go with his overcards. The river fell the {7-Clubs} completing the flush and sending Pham to the rail.

A Big Pot Pushes Alvin Zeidenfeld Past Six Figures

After a 3,000 raise from a player in mid-position Alvin Zeidenfeld chose to call. After a {3-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} flop the raiser bet 5,000 and Zeidenfeld called. He also called a 10,000 bet when the {4-Clubs} came on the turn. But when the {6-Diamonds} came on the river and he faced another 10,000 bet, Zeidenfeld came over the top and moved all in and his opponent called for another 30,000. Alvin turned over {7-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} for the flush and when his opponent mucked, Zeidenfeld's stack rocketed up to 157,000.

Andre Aakari Doubles Up

Andre Aakari moved all in from middle position for his last 6,600. The player in the cutoff reraised all in but got no action on the raise. The players showed:

Aakari: {5-Clubs} {5-Hearts}
Opponent: {A-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}

The flop came {10-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {5-Spades} giving Aakari a stranglehold on the hand. There was no runner-runner miracle for his opponent and he doubled up to just under 15,000 chips.
