Benefield Gives Up Some Chips

We saw a three-way unraised pot after David Benefield limped from the button and Brian Lempke limped from the small blind.

Action checked to Benefield on a flop of {4-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and he bet 12,000. Lemke called and Steve Kopp folded. We went heads up to the turn where Lemke check-called another 32,000 on the {7-Diamonds}. Both players checked the {10-Clubs} on the river and Benefield mucked when Lemke turned over {K-?} {Q-?} for top pair.

Lemke now has 413,000 while Benefield is down to 104,000.

Tollerene Cops a Bad One

Olivier Busquet opened the action with a raise to 26,000 from the cutoff before Mike Sowers moved all in from the button for 204,000 in total.

The action then passed to Ben Tollerene in the big blind who made the call as Busquet got out of the way.

Tollerene: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Sowers: {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The board ran out {A-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{Q-Spades} giving Sowers a running broadway straight to find a miraculous double up. He's up to 440,000 with Tollerene left shaking his head with 150,000 chips.

Christian Iacobellis Doubles Up

Brian Lemke popped the action to 28,000 from middle position and Alexander Turyansky reraised to 75,000, giving Christian Iacobellis an opportunity to raise all in from the small blind.

Lemke called and Turyansky folded, taking us heads up to the flop.

Lemke: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Iacobellis: {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}

A board of {Q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts}{5-Spades} provided no threat to Iacobellis, who now has more than 350,000.

Iacobellis Doubles Again

Alexander Turyansky raised to 23,000 from middle position and Christian Iacobellis reraised to 81,000 from the cut-off. When Turyansky shoved, Iacobellis made the call.

Turyansky: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Iacobellis: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

Turyansky couldn't find any help on a board of {3-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and Iacobellis increased his chip stack to 554,000.

Sowers Kicks It Up a Gear

After being fortunate to still be alive in this tournament a short time ago, Mike Sowers has now kicked it up a gear after collecting a generous pot without showdown.

On a flop of {A-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, Faraz Jaka checked over to Olivier Busquet who fired 55,000. Sowers made the call in position, before Jaka check-raised to 165,000. Busquet folded as Sowers called once again.

The turn brought the {8-Clubs} and Jaka checked to Sowers, who moved all in forcing a fold from his opponent.

A strange sequence of betting but a great result for Sowers as he's now up to 730,000 chips.

David Fox Eliminated in 24th Place ($21,026)

Steve Goosen opened with a raise to 26,000 with David Pham flat calling in late position. The action moved to David Fox in the small blind, who moved all in with {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}. Goosen folded but the trap of Pham had caught a fox as he snap-called with {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}.

The board fell {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Pham takes it down to end the tournament for Fox in 24th place.
