Cody Slaubaugh Wins a Monster

We caught this hand on the turn when Cody Slaubaugh led out at a board of {8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Ryan Welch raised all in behind him.

Slaubaugh called and had Welch dominated with {A-Clubs}{8-Spades} vs. {A-Spades}{5-Diamonds}. The {7-Diamonds} on the river didn't change anything and Slaubaugh raked in the huge pot, putting his chips at 258,000. Welch lost the majority of his stack and now sits at just 39,000.

Pass The Rockets

A player raised from early position to 6,000 and David Benefield flat called before Hasan Habbib made it an additional 26,000 to play from the big blind. The action then got a little crazy. The early position player moved all in for 36,000, as did Benefield for all of his 100,000 chips. Habbib raised his eyebrows and folded {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} face up.

EP Player: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Benefield: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}

The board landed {K-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and Benefield takes it down to eliminate his opponent.

However Habib got some revenge a few minutes later when he picked up {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} himself and got some value after check-calling against Benefield on a {K-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{7-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} board.

Sweet and Sowers

Nicholas Grippo and Mike Sowers both liked the flop of {10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Spades} enough to commit both of their impressive chip stacks into the middle. With almost 300,000 in the pot, the cards were tabled:

Grippo: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Sowers: {A-Spades}{9-Spades}

Grippo held a set but Sowers had plenty of outs with his straight and flush possibilities. One of those outs was the {J-Diamonds} which hit the turn to give Sowers a straight and the lead. Needing to avoid a repeat on board, Sowers was thrilled to see the {Q-Hearts} fall to give him the double up and monster pot to claim the tournament chip lead. Grippo still has some change with 68,000 behind.

Quoss Takes a Commanding Chip Lead

In what was easily the biggest pot of the day, Cody Slaubaugh raised to 6,600 preflop and got re-raised all in for 39,200 by Ryan Welch.

Fabian Quoss called the raise and, when action folded back to Slaubaugh, he re-shoved all in. Again, Quoss called and the hands were shown.

Slaubaugh: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
Welch: {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Quoss: {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}

Welch caught a pair when the flop came {2-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Spades}, but it wasn't enough. The {Q-Clubs} on the turn and {3-Hearts} on the river ended the hand, and passed the 416,400 chip pot to Quoss. Welch went to rail, while Slaubaugh has just 60,000 remaining.

Griffin Busts; Liebert Surges

Kathy Liebert
Kathy Liebert
Kathy Liebert opened the action with a raise to 7,000 from early position before a player in middle position moved all in for his last 21,000. The action folded to Gavin Griffin in the big blind who moved all in over the top for his last 77,000 but Liebert wasn't going anywhere as she made the call.

Liebert: {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}
Griffin: {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}

The board bricked out {8-Spades}{4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and Liebert scoops to send two to the rail in dramatic fashion. She's now up to a commanding 240,000 chips.

Verrett Update

The shout box railbirds have been hanging out for a Steve Verrett update, and unfortunately this isn't one that's going to please. Your man has just taken a hit after running his {A-?}{Q-?} into an opponent's {A-?}{K-?}. The board bricked out and as a result he's down to 110,000 chips.

Isaac Baron Eliminates a Player

The player on the button raised to 7,500 and Isaac Baron made the call from the big blind.

Baron then check-called 15,000 on a flop of {7-Spades}{3-Spades}{Q-Spades}, and both players checked the {4-Spades} on the turn. When the river brought the {5-Hearts}, Baron led out for 45,000 and his opponent tanked before finally shoving all in for an additional 12,000.

Baron called and showed {A-Spades}{8-Spades} for the flopped flush, and his opponent mucked. Baron now has 280,000.

Inselberg Crippled

On a flop of {9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts} a player in the small blind checked to David Inselberg who moved all in from under the gun for around 57,000 chips. The small blind player made the call for slightly less and tabled {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} for the best hand as Inselberg showed {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for ace-high.

The turn was the {4-Hearts} and the river the {J-Clubs} and Inselberg was left crippled.

Bonding With the Board

Lars Bonding had been slipping back to the pack but he's just found a handy double up. The chips were in preflop with Bonding needing some love with his {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} going to war with an opponent's {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}.

The board provided for him when it arrived {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades} to pair up his ace for the double up to about 110,000 chips.

Nenad Medic Sucks Out A Win

All the money got in preflop and Nenad Medic's pocket 10s were trailing his opponent's aces.

The flop of {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Spades} gave Medic outs, which didn't come with the {Q-Hearts} on the turn. The river was kind though, bringing the {8-Diamonds} and giving Medic the straight. He now has 165,000.
