A good final table start for Matt Glantz -- he's won two decent sized pots in a row.
Hand #1
Glantz raised in mid position and got called by Greg Mueller in the cutoff.
Glantz bet out on the and also on the turn. Both times Mueller called. They both checked the river -- but Mueller couldn't beat Glantz' and mucked.
Hand #2
Glantz raised in mid position again and this time Michiel Brummelhuis re-popped him from the button. He called, and then proceeded to check-call the bet from Brummelhuis on the flop.
They saw a on the turn and Glantz bet out. Brummelhuis called, and then checked behind Glantz on the river. Glantz turned over -- and Brummelhuis mucked, giving Glantz the pot.
Daniel Alaei and Chad Brown limp-checked their respective blinds and saw a flop, which they both checked.
Turn:
Alaei bet out, only for Brown to raise it. Call.
River:
Both players checked, and Alaei flipped for nothing more than a pair of queens. Brown's had made a rather less than premium flush, but it was enough to take the pot.
Matt Glantz is back down to 640,000 after seeing several hands in a row all the way to the river, only to fold or muck at the final hurdle.
One such hand saw him raise in position and get a call from Matt Hawrilenko in the small blind. Hawrilenko bet out on every street of the board and Glantz called both flop and turn, but come the river he gave it some considerable thought and folded instead.
Next hand Soheil Shamseddin raised in early position and Glantz reraised behind. Shamseddin re-popped though, and Glantz called.
Shamseddin bet all the way down the board and Glantz called on every street -- but Shamseddin tabled and Glantz just mucked. Shamseddin is up to 600,000 after that, incidentally.
Daniel Alaei limped in on the small blind and called a raise from Chad Brown in the big; they saw a flop.
Alaei checked and then called a bet from Brown. Caginess took over thereafter though, and they checked down the turn and river. Alaei turned over and this turned out to be good, as Brown mucked and was down to 625,000. Alaei meanwhile remains over the magic million mark, on 1,050,000.
Greg Mueller raised, but quickly gave it up preflop to a reraise from Matt Hawrilenko behind and a four-bet from Soheil Shamseddin in the big blind.
Shamseddin bet every street of the board and eventually Hawrilenko folded on the river, leaving himself on 730,000.
-----
Shamseddin lost some of those good chips back the very next hand though.
He reraised from the small blind to a raise from Hawrilenko, and then bet out on the flop. Hawrilenko called. He bet out again on the turn and this time Hawrilenko raised. A call, and they moved on to the river. Shamseddin check-called the bet from Hawrilenko, but mucked when Hawrilenko showed him .
Hawrilenko is up to 900,000, while Shamseddin is back down to 550,000.
Daniel Alaei has extended his chip lead to 1,160,000 courtesy of Soheil Shamseddin. Something for everyone on the board, but Shamseddin was behind all the way with and Alaei took it down with .
Further woe for very brief former chip leader Matt Glantz. He raised and called a reraise from Greg Mueller and made it all the way to the river of the board before mucking to Mueller's pocket .
Dreadful misfortune for Matt Hawrilenko after he raised and flat-called a reraise from Michiel Brummelhuis.
He check-raised the flop and Brummelhuis called. He bet the turn and river too and Brummelhuis called -- and Brummelhuis' ended up chopping with Hawrilenko's pocket . Ouch.
Further fine fortune for Daniel Alaei who is up to 1.2 millio in chips, while Chad Brown sinks to last place on 330,000.
Alaei raise from the cutoff and Brown called him on the button. Alaei bet out on the flop and Brown called; Alaei then check-called the turn and river, and at the end of it discovered that his pocket were good against Brown's to take the pot.
