Event 41 - $5,000 No Limit Hold'em Shootout

Welcome to event number 41. As the title suggests, this is a unique event. For the players to advance past today they have to win their table. This will eliminate ninety percent of the field and everyone coming back tomorrow will be in the money and only one more table win away from the final table. Table draw will be a big factor as they'll be no table breaking and moving tables.

Play due to start at midday.

How This is Going to Work

We have thirty tables in play, each with ten seats and 15,000 chips. Not all those stacks have players in front of them, as not all seats have been sold yet. Any late comers can buy in and take one of those seats, but they will be slightly depleted as the chips are all in play and subject to paying the blinds. If no one takes one of the seats, the chips will stay in play and be blinded away.

This will ensure that all winners will come back with 150,000 tomorrow, where they will play one of five six-handed tables. Then the five winners of those tables will return the next day to play out for the bracelet.

Bloch Busto

Early exit for Bloch
Early exit for Bloch
With around 6,000 in the pot on a board reading {8-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Spades}{2-Spades}, Steve Billirakis put Andy Bloch all in for his tournament life.

Bloch mulled it over a little before making the call, only to muck when he saw Billirakis table his {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a turned set of trips.

As Bloch headed to the rail, Billirakis raked in the pot to move to over 38,000 in chips.

Weird Mood for Negreanu

We walked over to find Daniel Negreanu all in for his last 9,575. The pot had 1,750 in it with the board reading {K-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}.

One opponent looked visibly ill at the decision he was faced with.

"Bet you didn't expect that!" quipped Negreanu, as he leaned over to our PokerNews reporter and whispered, "I know exactly what he has!"

His opponent eventually folded, as did Brett Richey and his {J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. "Oh I had an eight," stated Negreanu and tabled his {8-Spades} followed by a slowly squeezed out {K-Spades} before he mucked.

"I was way ahead!" muttered his opponent as he shook his head and explained to the table that he had folded {k-?}{10-Clubs}.

"That was a weird bet," he muttered once again. "I'm in weird mood," stated Negreanu as he went back to exchanging friendly banter with Richey.

Little Mercy Here

Jason Mercier has been eliminated in very unfortunate circumstances. Mercier and Blair Hinkle were in a raised pot that brought a {10-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} flop. All the chips went in and Mercier had flopped a set with {7-?} {7-?} to Hinkle's over pair with {K-?} {K-?}.

The turn came {K-?} to swing the pot away from Mercier and it would stay that way as the river came {3-Spades}.
