Tam Hang Eliminated

Pot-Limit Omaha

Eli Elezra limped in from UTG+1, Daniel Negreanu limped behind him, Tam Hang moved all-in for 4,100, Dario Alioto called from the small blind, David Baker called from the big blind, and Elezra re-potted. Negreanu, Alioto, and Baker folded, leaving Elezra heads-up with Hang.

Elezra {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}{K-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Hang {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs}

The board ran out {A-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, Elezra dealing the knockout blow with a set of aces. Hang hit the rail while Elezra increased his stack to 215,000.

Harmetz Reports to the Rail

Pot-Limit Omaha:

PLO has quickly ssumed the title of "widowmaker" in this tournament. Dan Harmetz, Ted Forrest and Brian Hastings were three to a flop of {9-Hearts} {7-Spades} {5-Spades}. Harmetz, the small blind, had first action and opened for 14,000. Forrest, the big blind, raised that bet to 39,000. Hastings then moved all in for more than 100,000.

Harmetz had only another 41,000 behind his bet and quickly put it in the middle. Forrest tanked muh, much longer before finally releasing his hand. At showdown, Harmetz was drawing with the nut flush draw, {a-Clubs} {a-Spades} {8-Spades} {2-Clubs}, against Hastings' {10-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {6-Spades}, the nut straight. The board bricked out, ending Harmetz's tournament.

Hastings is now among the chip leaders with 340,000.

Haxton Living Up to his Reputation

No-Limit Hold'em:

After an under-the-gun limper, Isaac Haxton raised to 6,600 from late position. In the cutoff, Matt Glantz repopped it to 16,200. Snap-fold from the limper, and Haxton four-bet shoved on Glantz. That was enough to earn a fold from Glantz.

After the hand, David Oppenheim said to Ike, "You're name is Isaac Haxton, right? Someone told me you're the best no-limit hold'em player in the world." Phil Hellmuth chimed in, "This kid plays every single pot. He raises everything. He's exactly the kind of player you want to play no limit with."

And not one to disappoint, Haxton mixed it up in the next pot. On a {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop, he bet 6,800, and Michael Binger called. Both players checked the {4-Spades} turn, and Haxton tapped the felt again after the {a-Hearts} peeled off on the river. Binger bet 12,000, leaving Ike with a decision. He made the call and showed {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for third pair. And as the "best no-limit tournament player in the world" should be, Haxton was good. Binger mucked, and Haxton raked in another one.

Antonius Snaps Off Buchanan

Pot-Limit Omaha:

Patrik Antonius trusted his instincts in a pot against Shawn Buchanan and it paid dividends. Buchanan opened pre-flop for 4,000, then called Antonius' re-raise to 13,800. Both players checked the {j-Hearts} {j-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} flop. Buchanan fired the {9-Clubs} turn for 10,000 and the {7-Spades} river for another 21,000. Antonius tanked on the river but did finally call with {k-Diamonds} {k-Spades} {q-Spades} {10-Hearts}, a pair of kings. Buchanan had a complete airball, {a-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {6-Clubs}. Into the muck it went.

Antonius is up to 160,000. Buchanan is down to 105,000.

No More Chips for Chen to Count

Count Bill Chen out.
Count Bill Chen out.

No-Limit Hold'em:

Justin Smith checked a {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop, and with about 30,000 already in the pot, Bill Chen bet 25,000. BoostedJ flat called to get to the turn. It came the {4-Hearts}, and Smith checked again. Chen moved in for his last 80,000, and Smith was more than happy to call. With his tournament at risk, Chen showed {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}. But top pair, top kicker looked less appealing when Smith showed {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} for a flopped set and turned full house. Chen had outs to a bigger boat, but the river was a blank. He shook hands with Smith on his way out, telling him, "That was a good play, calling behind with queens. I didn't put you on that." Well, we'd hope not. Pretty sure the math whiz could have figured out that shoving into a set is -EV. With the knockout, Smith's stack was boosted to 270,000.

Curse of the Underfull

Pot-Limit Omaha

Daniel Negreanu opened for 3,000 from the cutoff and got two callers in Noah Boeken from the button and Huck Seed in the big blind. The flop came down {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Seed checked to Negreanu, who bet 6,000. Boeken called and Seed folded. The turn was the {J-Clubs} and Negreanu fired again for 16,000. Boeken called. The river was the {7-Spades} and Negreanu checked. Boeken bet 25,000 and Negreanu called.

Boeken showed {K-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for sevens full of jacks. Negreanu flashed his favorite hand, {10-}{7-} for sevens full of tens as Boeken took down the pot.

Negreanu is down to 90,000 while Boeken is up to 195,000.

Limit Hold'em

On a {J-Spades}{10-Hearts}{10-Spades} flop, Phil Ivey checked, Daniel Negreanu bet, Ivey raised and Negreanu called. Ivey bet out when the {2-Spades} hit the turn and Negreanu called. Same story on the river when the {K-Hearts} fell.

Ivey turned over {9-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for trips and a visibly frustrated Negreanu mucked. He's down to 23,000 in chips.
