Belanger-Lebel Gains a Stack

Alexis Belanger-Lebel raised from middle position, and Beth Gains shipped in her last 43,000. Belanger-Lebel called with {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, meaning Gains' {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} put her in good shape to double up. At least until the {q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop gave Belanger-Lebel a set. The {a-Spades} and {k-Diamonds} that came next were no help, sending Gains to the rail. Belanger-Lebel is up to 256,000.

The Official Word

We've just received an official announcement that we'll be playing the remaining thirty minutes of this level, taking another twenty minute break, and then coming back to play another two levels this evening. That will see us wrap up around 3:30am tonight.

Upon double checking the structure sheet for this event, it is stated that the tournament will only stretch to a fourth day if required. So that explains why we're soldiering on this evening to try and reduce the field as much as we can. We'll then come back tomorrow and attempt to play down to a winner or ten levels, whichever comes first.

Benzimra More Than Doubles

Dean Schankin opened with a raise from early position, and found a call on the button before Christophe Benzimra shoved for 26,000 more from the small blind. Schankin made the call as the button stepped aside.

Schankin: {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Benzimra: {Q-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

The flop of {8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs} missed both players before Schankin took the lead on the {J-Diamonds} turn. However the {K-Hearts} on the river gave the lead and the pot back to Benzimra as he more than doubles to 98,000. Schankin is back to 423,000.

De la Torture

On a {10-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts}{j-Spades} board, Edgar de la Torre bet 52,000. The button spent long enough in the tank for another player to call the clock on him. De la Torre told him he'd show no matter what, and the button folded in agony. As is the case so often when they offer to show, de la Torre showed {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} for just ace-king high. He moved up to 350,000 and left his opponent with some tilt to work off during the break.

Tick Tock

Action has slowed way down since the break. All the players are pretty tired, and everyone seems determined to get a shot at Day 3. There's a whole lot of raise and take it poker happening out there, and not much else.

Cantero Gets Some Help

Finally, a bit of action. Laura Cantero was all in with {a-Clubs}{10-Spades} against Carlson Le's {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}. She was still in trouble after the {a-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop gave her top pair with an inferior kicker. The {2-Diamonds} on the turn didn't come to her rescue, but the {10-Clubs} on the river arrived right on time. Cantero jumped up to 190,000, dropping Le down to 26,000.
