Five members of Team PokerStars Pro started the day, but only two made it to dinner break. Jose Barbero and Fatima Moreira de Melo didn't make the money, and George Lind was gone as soon as the bubble burst, finishing in 341st place.
Team Argentina's Veronica Dabul's stack was dwindling, but she just managed a double up with . She's up to 31,500 now. Frenchman Arnaud Mattern has fallen under 30,000 and has yet to return from dinner break. We hope he arrives soon to tend to his shrinking stack.
Dave Sands raised it up to 3,800 before an opponent moved all in for his last 15,700. Sands decided it was a good time to gamble as he made the call.
Sands:
Opponent:
Sands was hoping for live cards but found himself dominated. However he pulled one out of the bag when the board was spread to give him two pair and send his opponent to the rail shaking his head in disappointment. Sands is up to 64,000.
Ryan Beckwith moved all in for 21,900 from middle position, and the player in the small blind looked him up. Beckwith was ahead with and needed to dodge the small blind's . The paint-free board fell , and Beckwith doubled to 47,000.
Tony Dunst has taken a hit in a preflop clash against a late position opponent. Dunst was in the big blind and we assume he re-raised against his opponent's opening bet. The chips were in preflop and Dunst was dominated.
Dunst:
Opponent:
The late position player slammed the table in disgust when the flop landed as Dunst took the lead but his mood quickly changed on the turn. The on the river sealed the deal and Dunst takes a hit to slip to 55,000.
On a flop, Marc Magazu bet 5,600. Josh Norris made the call, and the turn brought the . Magazu bet out 11,000, and Norris called again. Magazu fired another bullet after the on the river, making it 20,000 this time. Norris couldn't call a third bet with four to a straight on the board, folding instead. Magazu showed the and stacked the nice pot. He's up to 125,000 now while Norris slipped to 93,000.
It's not often that a player is happy to get a penalty. However Eugene Castro just wandered past our table to happily explain the details.
After an opponent moved all in on him preflop for around 50,000 holding a rather meager , Castro made the call with pocket tens and spiked a set on the flop to take in the monstrous pot.
In all the commotion and stacking of chips, the next hand was dealt and another player moved all in. Castro looked down at and joked to the table about how he can't call with that hand, flashing the cards to the table, but not realizing that there was still players left to act in the hand.
A player at the table called the floor, and despite the incident being rather innocent, Castro was slapped with a one orbit penalty.
"I'll take a one orbit penalty if I can double up every time!" Castro said with a laugh. He's up to 160,000, so we don't think the missed blinds and antes will hurt too much.
Andrew Chen has eliminated from the tournament in unfortunate circumstances. He took ace-king into battle preflop against ace-queen, but two queens on board left Chen felted and on his way to the cashier.
Brian Hawkins raised to 3,800 from early position, and the big blind, Robert Aron, reraised to 11,200. Hawkins four-bet shoved for 44,300, enough to cover Aron. Robert called instantly with , and Hawkins was in bad shape with . The board came , bringing Hawkins draws but no rescue. While Aron moved up to 93,000, Hawkins was left with just 5,000.
The next hand, Hawkins moved all in under the gun with . An opponent in late position called with and flopped a set. The board ran out , giving Hawkins' opponent kings full and leaving the Sn8wman with nothing but a carrot.
