Nice Call for Katchalov

Eugene Katchalov
Eugene Katchalov

Eugene Katchalov made a raise from under the gun and then Tony Merksick called from the big blind. The flop came down {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs} and Merksick bet out. Katchalov called.

The turn brought the {6-Spades} and both players checked. The river card was the {A-Spades} and Merksick bet out. Katchlov took a moment and then made the call.

Merksick showed the {A-}{Q-}-X-X, but lost to Katchalov's {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Katchalov improved to 370,000 in chips.

Chow in Trouble

Event 4 champion Michael Chow is down to just 120,000 in chips after losing a recent pot to Abe Mosseri. Chow was the pre-flop aggressor, with Eugene Katchalov calling from the button and Mosseri calling from the small blind.

Mosseri led out on a highly-connected flop, {8-Spades} {9-Spades} {7-Diamonds}. Chow raised, driving Farha out of the pot. Mosseri then put in the third bet, with Chow opting to call.

Mosseri bet the turn {10-Clubs} and the river {8-Diamonds}. Chow called each time. At showdown, Mosseri produced a queen-high straight, {a-Clubs} {q-Diamonds} {j-Hearts} {10-Hearts}. It was the winner.

Chow Coming Back

Michael Chow
Michael Chow

Sergey Altbregin raised from the button and Michael Chow called from the big blind. The flop came down {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Chow fired out. Altbregin called.

The turn brought the {5-Spades} and Chow fired his last 36,000 into the middle. Altbregin took some time and then mucked his hand, allowing Chow to pick up the pot and move to about 200,000.

A few moments later, Chow was able to double up thorugh Abe Mosseri on the board of {K-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. All of the money went in on the turn in the multi-way pot between Mosseri and Chow. Mosseri held the {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and Chow the {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}.

Chow's flush held strong and there was no low, allowing him to double up to roughly 600,000 in chips.

Chow Quartered

Michael Chow has been one of the more active players at this final table. He was part of a three-way lop of {k-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} with Abe Mosseri and James Dempsey. Dempsey bet and received a call only from Chow. The action was the same on the {2-Hearts} turn and {8-Spades} river. At showdown, Dempsey showed {a-Hearts} {2-Clubs} 4d] {5-Clubs} for trip deuces and the nut low. Chow showed only the nut low, {a-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {q-Spades} and was quartered down to about 360,000.

Merksick Trips Up Mosseri

Tony Merksick hasn't shown much initiative yet at the final table. He's picking his spots carefully and found a great one against Abe Mosseri. Merksick raised pre-flop, then was the only player to call Mosseri's three-bet. He led into Mosseri on a flop of {3-Diamonds} {k-Spades} {3-Clubs} and was again raised. Merksick called.

Merksick check-called a bet on the {k-Clubs} turn and got a free showdown after the {4-Spades} checked through. He tabled {A-Spades} {2-Clubs} {3-Spades} {8-Spades} for trip treys with an ace kicker. Mosseri nodded and mucked.
