Gaspard Doubles Through Vanho

You might have noticed from that last post that Kent Vanho has slipped to just 55,000 - here's the reason why.

The chips all went in preflop, and we were alerted to the action by the standard Jean Gaspard rail celebrations (high-volume, and very entertaining).

Gaspard: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Vanho: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

Board: an unequivocal {q-Spades}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

Gaspard doubled to 430,000. Vanho was left with the aforementioned bowl of rice.

Kent Vanho Eliminated in 15th Place ($26,049)

Kent Vanho shoved the very next hand and fellow (relative) short stack Alexander Queen reshoved. Everyone else got out of their way, and they were on their backs.

Vanho: {6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Queen: {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

Board: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Spades}

Vanho had already been standing to leave on the flop, but promptly sat back down. "What happened?" he said to Queen, laughing with relief, "You trying to donate to me or what?"

Vanho doubled to 150,000 or so while Queen was left with 280,000.

However, it couldn't last. A hand or two later and Vanho shoved under the gun, getting a call from William Kakon in mid position.

Vanho: {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Kakon: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

Board: {3-Clubs}{5-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{j-Spades}

With that, we were 14.

Allen Stern Eliminated in 14th Place ($26,049)

Chris Kastler opened the pot from under the gun, with a 75,000-chip raise. Next to speak, Allen Stern moved all in for an additional 400,000 chips.

The action arrived to Neil Channing in the big blind who tanked. After a while, Channing folded and Kastler announced the call.

Showdown
Stern: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Kastler: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

"Here I go again...", said Kastler.

The board {7-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{j-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{5-Spades} sent Stern to the rail in the 14th place. Kastler is now up to 1,980,000 chips.

Queen Doubles Through Cohen

Alexander Queen

Jeff Cohen raised to 112,000 in the small blind and Alexander Queen moved all in from the big. Cohen tanked, and called the additional 179,000 chips.

Queen tabled pocket nines and Cohen tabled {k-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}. The board {5-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds} gave Queen a double up. Cohen slipped to 320,000 chips and Queen is now up to 500,000.

Grining

No more grinding for Billy Griner, as he doubled through the newly chipped-up David Wilkinson to put him up to around a million in chips.

Wilkinson: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Griner: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

Board: {9-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

"YES!" cried Griner as the nine fell on the flop, "Drawing dead to an ace, dead to an ace..."

He duly doubled up, to everyone's amusement except Wilkinson's, who grudgingly paid up and dropped down to 500,000 or so.

"What would an ace do?" TD Nikki asked Griner. "It'd fill you up."

Replied the very emotional Griner, "Yeah... I'm a little slow."

When we arrived at the table the board read {j-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Clubs} and Jean Gaspard moved all in from the small blind. William Kakon snap called in middle position.

Gaspard tabled {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for top pair and gutshot, and Kakon tabled {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for top two pairs.

The turn card was a {3-Spades} and the river brought a {8-Spades} to the felt. Gaspard is our 12th place finisher and took home $33,191.

Wilkinson Doubles Back Through Griner

While most of the chips are up on the feature table, down on the second table David Wilkinson and Billy Griner are trading chips back and forth like there's no tomorrow.

Most recently, Wilkinson just limped in on the small blind and big blind Griner checked his option. They saw a flop.

Flop: {2-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}

Wilkinson checked to Griner, who bet 50,000. Back to Wilkinson, who now check-raised all in.

Griner tanked up for a long, long time, his leg jiggling frantically. Eventually he called.

Griner: {6-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
Wilkinson: some rather sneakily played {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

Turn: {10-Clubs}

River: {10-Hearts}

Wilkinson doubled to 565,000 while William Kakon reassured the devastated Griner that he had done the right thing. Griner dropped back to 700,000 after that.
