Joel Ettedgi Eliminated in 9th Place ($18,432)

Joel Ettedgi - 9th Place
Joel Ettedgi - 9th Place

Just moments ago, Phil Hellmuth made quad deuces, but wound up chopping the pot. Either way, he stayed alive. This time is was Mandy Thomas' turn to make quad ducks.

Joel Ettedgi raised to 84,000 from early position and then Mandy Thomas called all in for 70,000 from the hijack seat. Ben Lamb was in the small blind and reraised the pot. Ettedgi called and was all in for the big side pot. Thomas could only win the main.

Thomas held the {A-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, Lamb the {A-Spades}{K-Spades}{K-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Ettedgi the {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

The flop came down {5-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Lamb flopped a wheel. Thomas flopped herself a set of deuces while Ettedgi's chances weren't looking so hot.

The turn brought the {2-Spades} and Thomas made quads. She now had a lock on the high half of the main pot.

The river completed the board with the {8-Clubs} and first the side pot was awarded to Lamb, who won both the high and the low with a wheel. Thomas and Lamb then chopped up the main pot. Thomas moved to 117,000 while Lamb moved to 725,000 after being sent all of Ettedgi's chips from the side pot.

Ettedgi was eliminated in ninth place and took home $18,432 for his effort.

Action folded to Mandy Thomas on the button. She raised and was all in for 81,000. Phil Hellmuth made the call from the big blind. Hellmuth held the {Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and Thomas the {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.

The board ran out {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs} to give Thomas the scoop and double her up plus some to 194,000 in chips. Hellmuth is now the shortest stack at the table, dropping back to 166,000.

Thomas Chipping Up

Mandy Thomas just potted two hands in a row preflop to 84,000 and picked up the two blinds. She had 194,000 in chips before she began this little rush of aggression and now has 266,000.

Bari, Mercier, O'Brien and Hellmuth Get Into It

We all know Phil Hellmuth likes to talk. Wel, he just got into a little banter with Jason Mercier, Al Bari and Dan O'Brien who are all on the rail supporting their friend Ben Lamb. Hellmuth was ranting about how much Lamb has been running him over and also about how he hasn't had aces all day. O'Brien chimed in and Hellmuth yelled out, "Who are you?" Hellmuth must not realize that O'Brien final tabled the WPT's Bay 101 Shooting Stars Main Event with him back in March. O'Brien took third there and Hellmuth exited in sixth.

"I guess making a TV final table with him doesn't mean anything, you should just leave," said Bari to O'Brien.
