Event #47: $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em
Day 1a Started
The fifth $1,000 buy-in No Limit Hold'em tournament of the 2010 World Series of Poker is about to get underway. Thousands of people are expected to enter the tournament between today and tomorrow that'll fill the Pavilion Room to the max.
There have already been four $1,000 events this year, drawing crowds between 3,000-4,300. Past winners include Aadam Daya ($625,872), Steven Gee ($472,479), Jeffrey Tebben ($503,389), and Scott Montgomery ($481,760). Montgomery, the former November Niner from 2008 and a well known pro, was the most recent winner after clearing a field of 3,102.
The field will be packed with amateur hopefuls, but there will be a number of professionals in the field as well. Will an unknown clear the massive field to claim the title, or will another pro survive to take down the gold bracelet? PokerNews will be here to bring you all the action, chip counts, hand updates and eliminations as we look for an answer to that question. Action will begin in about a half hour, so stay tuned.

Cards are in the air and the action is underway!
For the first time in five weeks we have a field without (almost) notables. Where are you guys?
This are the ones we already spot:
Leandro "Brasa" Pimentel
André Akkari
Jerry Yang
Antonio Esfandiari
Vadim Markushevski
Darus Suharto
Dennis Phillips
Matt Stout
Leo Margets
Gavin Griffin
Lauren Kling
Keith Ferrera
Mike Souza
Jordan Morgan
Moto Mobuchi
Bernard Lee
Billy Baxter
Scott Montgomery
and our colleague, the British blogger, Marc Convey!
Tom "durrrr" Dwan has been spotted in the field. This doesn't come as much of a surprise considering he has been playing almost every event in the hope of winning his first bracelet and claiming an unknown fortune in side bets. He'll have his work cut out for him today, as surviving a field this big takes more than just skill.
Team PokerStars seems to be well represented in the field today. Alexandre Gomes, Salvatore Bonavena, Gualter Salles, Vadim Markushevski, Dennis Phillips and Gavin Griffin have been spotted in the tournament. Can any of these Team Pros take down the title? We'll have to wait and see.
With the board spread Lauren Kling fired a 150-chip bet in late position. Next to speak, André Akkari called and the player in the small blind check-raised to 450.
Kling re-popped it, Akkari folded, and the player in the small blind moved all in for an additional 1,100 chips. Kling called.

Small Blind:
The river didn't help Kling and she's down to 1,150 chips.
James Akenhead raised preflop and was called by the small blind. The flop came and a series of raises ensued between the two players. Eventually all of the chips got in the middle and Akenhead revealed for two pair.
The small blind showed for top set and Akenhead was in big trouble. Both the turn and river blanked and Akenhead became an early casualty of Day 1A.
Shannon Elizabeth has been spotted in the field. Many of you might know Elizabeth as a Hollywood actress who has starred in such films as Tomcats, Thirteen Ghosts, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and the poker film, Deal.
However, possibly her most famous role was that of foreign exchange student Nadia in American Pie and American Pie 2. Can Elizabth follow fellow actress Jennifer Tilly in winning a WSOP gold bracelet?
