Day 2 Is Now

Good afternoon and welcome back to the Amazon Room where this PLO party is about to get back in action.

We lost over half the field yesterday, but there's a long, long way to go if we're going to get as far as a final table tonight. In fact, we are still a very long way off the money at all - only 45 of our 207 Day 2 starters are going to be getting paid at all.

Kevin Schaffel is in the lead at kickoff, but a variety of things could happen. Dan Shak, who made it as far heads up in the PLO8, is also one of our big stacks heading into the day and will presumably be looking to go one better on his last result. Also still in the running are Annette Obrestad, Nacho Barbero, Juha Helppi, Lex Veldhuis and Men Nguyen.

Play is due to restart at 3pm. See you then.

More Chips for Nacho

Nacho Barbero potted, only for Dan Shak to repot from the cutoff. There followed a lengthy argument about the size of the pot; eventually it was resolved and Barbero made the call.

They saw a {7-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop and Barbero checked. Shak bet 11,000 - and Barbero promptly check-raised all in while Shak pulled a face. Eventually he folded, and Barbero showed him {q-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.

Barbero - up to 78,000
Shak - down to 82,000

The Master Busts Murphy

Kevin Murphy fired 27,000 at a {4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts} board, and Men Nguyen repotted. Murphy made the call with what was left of his chips and tabled {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for queens with a flush draw. Men had {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a straight. The {3-Spades} on the river didn't bring Murphy the club he needed, and he was eliminated while the Master moved up to 102,000.
