16 Bracelets!

"What are the odds of this at a $1K event?"

So asked Tom Schneider regarding the number of bracelets won by the players at his table. Schneider, of course, won two back in 2007 on his way to becoming WSOP Player of the Year. He's sitting to the left of Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, who has five. And to Ferguson's right is Layne Flack, who has six.

That's not the end of it, though. On the other side of the table sit Gavin Smith, who won his first WSOP bracelet just last week, and Ryan Hughes, who owns two more. That's 16!

Right now Hughes has the most chips of the bunch with 9,200. Ferguson recently won an all-in with pocket queens against pocket tens, doubling to 4,800. Schneider has 3,100, Flack 2,700, and Smith is down to 1,600.

Flack May Have Had One Too Many

Layne Flack seems to be having quite the day. Not only is he seated at a stacked table, he is doing so in a clearly intoxicated state. Flack is talking it up with his fellow tablemates as well as with the large rail that has gathered.

In addition to the two drinks in front of him, Flack has temporarily donned Chris Ferguson's cowboy hat. "Play like me, I can't see anything," Flack told Ferguson.

A couple hands later the player in the cutoff raised to 250 and the button called. Flack wasted little time in raising to 1,550 from the small blind and only the button called. "I'll put it in dark if you put it in dark," Flack offered. The button wasn't interested so when the flop came {K-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, Flack grabbed his entire stack of about 2,400 and chucked them into the middle of the table. The button instantly folded and Flack brought his stack up to around 6,000 while informing the table, "I'm getting bored."

Stamdogg Takes a Bite

Keven "Stamdogg" Stammen, who won a WSOP bracelet in a $2,500 no-limit hold'em event last summer, has been showing some characteristic aggression during the early stages of play.

Just now he again opened with a raise to 250 from middle position, and got two callers from the blinds. The flop came {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}{K-Spades}. The blinds checked to Stammen, who bet 375, and each let their hands go.

Stammen has chipped to 4,400 here as we approach the end of Level 3.

Tiffany Trounced, Grey Gone

Tiffany Michelle, down to her last 1,200, open-raised all in from middle position, then Jason Grey reraised all in behind her from the cutoff with his last 2,000. It folded to Russell Campanella in the big blind who made the call.

Campanella {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Michelle {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Grey {A-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

The flop came {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, giving Michelle a flush draw. But the {Q-Spades} turn and {2-Diamonds} river meant both she and Grey had been eliminated. Campanella moves to 6,800.

Kessler On a Roll

Allen Kessler and his opponent from the cutoff both saw a flop of {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. There was about 650 in the pot and Kessler led out with a 400 bet. The cutoff thought about it but opted to lay it down to the "Chainsaw." With that win, Kessler is approaching the 10,000 chip mark and looking for his ninth cash of the 2010 WSOP.

Presto Fails Phillips

Dennis Phillips
Dennis Phillips

Team PokerStars Pro Dennis Phillips had been up close to the 6,000-chip mark, but had slipped back rapidly to just 1,000 chips when the following hand began.

A player in middle position, also short-stacked, opened by raising all in to 1,250, then Yegor Moroz reraised all in from the cutoff for 3,200. "Get me back in this game," said Phillips as he called with his remaining chips from the big blind.

Phillips showed {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. The middle position player tabled {A-Clubs}{9-Spades}. And Moroz showed {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}.

The flop pretty much sealed it, coming {A-Spades}{J-Spades}{7-Spades} and giving Moroz a flush. The {J-Diamonds} turned, meaning Phillips wasn't completely drawing dead, but the {3-Spades} on fifth street meant Moroz had scored a double-knockout that included the third-place finisher in the 2008 WSOP Main Event.

Moroz has 7,000 now.
