Mackey Moving Up

Just before the break, Kevin O'Connell raised to 54,000 in the hijack and Joseph Curcio called in the cutoff, as did James Mackey in the big blind.

Flop: {j-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

Mackey checked and O'Connell bet 90,000. Curcio gave it up but Mackey made the call.

Turn: {2-Diamonds}

This time both players checked. So they saw a river for free.

River: {k-Diamonds}

Mackey now bet out 145,000 and O'Connell called - but mucked when Mackey turned over {k-Hearts}{q-Spades} for two pair.

Current standings - O'Connell 505,000, Mackey, 1,050,000.

Kochelaevskiy Trending Up

Vladimir Kochelaevskiy opened to 67,000 from the hijack seat and the action folded to Viet Vo who called from the small blind.

Both players checked the {4-Spades}{3-Spades}{q-Spades} flop, but after the {3-Diamonds} turned Vo led for 75,000. Kochelaevskiy called.

The river was the {9-Hearts} and Vo slowed down, checking to Kochelaevskiy who fired 178,000. Vo called.

Kochelaevskiy opened {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for a pair of tens and Vo mucked. Kochelaevskiy chipped up to 1,400,000 while Vo slipped to 1,100,000.

It's in the Stars for Bonavena

Salvatore Bonavena
Salvatore Bonavena

Team PokerStars had somewhere in the region of 20 Team Pros play this event, but now there is only one.

Newly signed Team Pro: Italy Salvatore Bonavena, who took down EPT Prague in 2008 as well as the Venice IPT in January before finishing 10th at the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo this April, is the sole remaining representative of Team PokerStars. He's currently sitting on around a million in chips - a little above average - and with his endgame experience, he could be looking at a WSOP bracelet come tomorrow to add to his already impressive record.

Freeroll!

Hungcheng Hung opened to 52,000 from under the gun and action folded all the way to James "mig.com" Mackey in the big blind who re-raised to 175,000. Hung tank-called.

The flop fell {j-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and Mackey check-called 100,000 from Hung.

The turn was the {5-Spades} and Mackey checked again. Hung fired 300,000 leaving less than 200,000 behind, and Mackey immediately moved all in. Hung looked like he had been caught red handed, but shrugged and called anyway.

Mackey: {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Hung: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}

Wow.

Both players had just ace-high and Hung was on a massive freeroll. The river was red though, {8-Diamonds}, and the two chopped the pot.

Duhamel Doubles

Tomer Berda opened to 75,000 from the hijack seat before Jonathan Duthamel moved all in for 449,000 more with the button. Action folded back to Berda who went into the tank. He cut out enough chips to call and riffled them with both hands before finally sliding them forward.

Berda: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Duthamel: {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

The dealer wrapped the table and then delivered the flop; {5-Clubs}{6-Spades}{8-Clubs}. Although Duthamel didn't make a pair, he was drawing very live with two overs and a flush draw.

The {9-Spades} on the turn gave Berda a set of nines and took away Duthamel's pair outs, but now any jack would give him a winning straight.

Did we say jack?

The {j-Diamonds} spiked on the river, filling Duthamel's gut-shot straight draw and doubling him to 1,150,000 chips. Berda slipped to 1,050,000.

Jonathan Duhamel Eliminated in 15th Place ($37,276)

Jonathan Duhamel - 15th place
Jonathan Duhamel - 15th place

Jonthan Duhamel raised to 65,000 under the gun and both Tomer Berda and Salvatore Bonavena called in the blinds to see a {7-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{9-Clubs} flop. Berda checked to Bonavena who bet 100,000. Duhamel raised to 265,000 and Berda folded. Bonavena called, though, and they saw the turn.

The turn came down the {j-Clubs} and Bonavena checked. Duhamel bet 275,000 this time, and Bonavena responded by raising all in for 443,000 more. Duhamel called, and sighed when he saw Bonavena's hand.

Duhamel: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs} for top pair and a flush draw
Bonavena: {3-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for the made flush

River: a harmless {3-Hearts}

Bonavena doubled up again, and the hapless Duhamel was crippled to just 60,000.

Next hand, Christian Jeppsson open-shoved from the cutoff and Duhamel called all in from the big blind. More woe followed for Duhamel, but it was mercifully brief and he took home 15th place money for his trouble.

Jeppsson: {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Duhamel: dominating with {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Board: {8-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Spades} bink! {7-Spades}{2-Diamonds}
