Welcome to Day 2 of the $1,500 No-Limit Shootout

We're back for the second round of the Shootout (bang, bang!) event. Players today will be at ten-handed tables and at the moment, they're all joint chip leaders and all equally short-stacked with 45,000. Everyone is in the money and guaranteed just shy of $5,000 having won their table yesterday but today, once again, only first place will matter.

Looking down on seating draw and table 280 looks to be arguably the toughest of the 16, it features Greg Raymer, Dan Kelly, Dan O'Brien and Thayer Rasmussen amongst its competitors, all of whom will be looking to advance into Day 3 and the final 16 players.

Play will begin at 2.30pm as our remaining runners attempted to win their table and guarantee themselves $13,238 with a shot at the $369,371 first prize, and of course, the gold WSOP bracelet.

Tilly Off To Nice Start

Level 1 : 200/400, 50 ante

Jennifer Tilly and 2010 November Niner Filippo Candio are sitting side by side and just got involved in a big pot on one of the first hands of the tournaments. Tilly raised preflop to 1,050, and Candio three bet to 2,600. Tilly called, and the players took a flop of {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{j-Spades}. Both players checked, and the turn came the {2-Spades}. Tilly bet out 3,000, and Candio called quickly. The river brought the {10-Hearts}, and Tilly cut out a bet of 7,000. Candio thought for about 20 seconds before calling, and Tilly flipped up {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for a rivered set. Candio shook his head, showed the {j-Diamonds}, and sent the chips to Tilly, boosting her stack up to about 58,000 early on.

Very Cautious Opening

Level 1 : 200/400, 50 ante

As expected, the action has been very tight so far with very few flops at any of our 16 tables. However Filippo Candio looks to be the shortest stack at the moment, he's down to 10,000 already.

Hinkle Catches St. Jean

Level 1 : 200/400, 50 ante

When we got to the table, Blair Hinkle had just put in a four bet preflop of 6,200 after his opponent, Andrew St. Jean, had three bet him to 2,700. St. Jean decided to raise just above the minimum, putting in a five bet to 11,000. Hinkle called, and the pot already had over 22,000 in it. The flop came {q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, and St. Jean put out a small bet of 7,200. Hinkle called, and the turn came the {7-Diamonds}. Again St. Jean bet very small, just 7,100 this time, and again, Hinkle called. The river came the {6-Spades}, and St. Jean thought for about 30 seconds before checking. Hinkle immediately checked behind, and the players showed their cards.

Hinkle: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}
St. Jean: {10-Hearts}{4-Hearts}

Hinkle had top pair top kicker while St. Jean was on a complete bluff the whole way. Hinkle took the pot, and has the early chip lead at his table at about 70,000.

Sass-Squashed

Level 1 : 200/400, 50 ante

Alan Sass fired out 7,200 on the river of a {3-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{3-Spades}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} river and called Timothy Clark's raise to 26,000 pretty quickly. But when Clark turned over {4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for quads, Sass could only muck his hand in response.

Amak Find Aces Again, Doubles Up

Level 1 : 200/400, 50 ante

We just reported that Amit Mahkija had his aces cracked in a big pot against Victor Ramdin. Well after being knocked down to around 5,500, Mahkija has started the road back to recovery with the same hand. Facing a raise from Robert Georato, Mahkija shoved in from the small blind. Georato was priced in to call, even though he didnt' have a great hand.

Mahkija: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Georato: {q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

The board ran out {k-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{8-Spades}{10-Clubs}, and Amak took the pot to get back up to around 11,000
