Day 2: Money Bubble Looms

Day 2 is about to begin here at the $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em. What started with 3,175 spread out amongst the Rio is now only 342 players here in the Amazon Room, and we are only 20 players from the money.

Our chip leader and only player over 100,000 chips is Doug Lang with 119,700. Justin Sloan (99,400), Victor Shuchleis (97,200), Sybe Smit (94,800) and Stephen Kats (92,400) are also at the top of the counts, all with at least 90,000 chips. The story of Day 1 however has to be PokerStars Team Pro Lex Veldhuis who was down to only 800 chips early on in the event but ended Day 1 with 73,000 and near the top of our counts.

Other notables making it to Day 2 are Micah Raskin (76,600) Amnon Filippi (65,400), Yuval Bronshtein (52,400), Hoyt Corkins (46,700) John Phan (42,700), Jason Somerville (36,500), Scott Montgomery (32,500), Tim West (26,000), Taylor Paur (25,000), Shaun Deeb (24,000) and Gavin Smith (9,000).

Notables who didn't make it to Day 2 include, Matt Jarvis, Randall Flowers, Galen Hall, Joe Cada, Faraz Jaka, Jeff Sarwer, Antonio Esfandiari, Josh Brikis, Scotty Nguyen, Justin Young, Jeff Madsen, Liv Boeree, Eric Baldwin and many others.

We are only 20 players from the money, so we can assume it will be an intense start here on Day 2. While we certainly won't get to a final table tonight, we should see some real chip leaders emerge as the field thins and the bracelet becomes a real possibility. We are about 15 minutes from the start, stay tuned because it certainly won't be a slow start here on Day 2!
