The Ups and Downs of Scott Clements

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante
Scott Clements
Scott Clements

In a three way pot, Scott Clements led out for 8,000 on a {Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts} board, MIchael Simon called but Jacobo Fernandez check-raised to 16,000. Clements called and Simon folded.

The {J-Spades} came on the turn and Fernandez bet 16,000 with Clements calling to see the {5-Clubs} river. Fernandez fired again and Clements reluctantly folded, being showed {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for his trouble.

Clements was left short with about 40,000 and it all went in on the turn of a {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{A-Spades} board against Fernandez, after the former had made it three bets preflop and fired the flop and turn before being raised all in for his final 4,000.

Clements held {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} for a flush and trips leading Fernandez' {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs} and the {10-Clubs} came on the river, allowing Clements to scoop and double back up.

Allen Cunningham Eliminated in 26th place ($8,191)

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante
Allen Cunningham
Allen Cunningham

Preflop, Allen Cunningham raised to 16,000 under the gun, Jaime Kaplan raised to 24,000 in early position, Matt Waxman called on the button as did Cunningham who was left with 1,000 after the call.

The flop and turn read {Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} and were checks all around. The river was the {4-Clubs} Cunningham and his one yellow chip checked, Kaplan bet 16,000 and Waxman went into the tank for quite a while before finally calling. Cunningham tossed in his final chip for his tournament life.

Kaplan announced he had a flush but Waxman had a better one showing {A-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} to scoop the pot and knock out Cunningham in 26th place.

Waxman has 470,000 and Kaplan is left with 140,000

One Pair is Good For Half in a Four Way Pot?

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

James Lenaghan was all in on a {K-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} board with three others in the hand. The rivered produced the {8-Spades} and was checked around.

Lenaghan: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for a pair of sixes and an ace-seven low.
Daniel Smith: {A-Hearts}{7-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs} for a pair of twos and the nut low.
Michael Deveronica: {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for a high card and the nut low.
Richard Monroe: {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades} for a pair of twos and the worst low.

Amazingly, Lenaghan’s pair was good for the high half of the main pot. Smith and Deveronica chopped the low half of the main as well as the low half of the side pot. Smith also chopped the high half of the sidepot with Monroe.

Event #3: End of Day 2

Level 20 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Event #3 began Day 2 with 201 players and by the end, we have 25 remaining. Francesco Barbaro started the day in seventh place with 58,800 but has amassed a whopping 459,000 and is our chip leader. Matt Waxman is closely behind with only 1,000 less than Barbaro at 458,000.

Barbaro stormed into the lead early in the day when he bested our Day 1 chip leader Guillaime Rivet in a pot. Barbaro's {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds} was good enough on a {4-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} board to boost his stack to 211,000 at the time.

Other notables and big stacks include Vladimir Shchemelev at 335,000, Jimmy Fricke with 278,000, Humberto Brenes at 160,000 and Scott Clements at 84,000.

Those who were not lucky enough to survive the day but still left with some money included Jeff Shulman, Andy Seth, John D'Agostino, Josh Arieh, Bryan Micon, Ted Lawson, James Bord, Barry Greenstein, James Dempsey, Erik Seidel, Chau Giang, Men Nguyen and Allen Cunningham.
