Confusion and a Cooler

We caught up with the action at one of our more stacked tables. Table 88 boasts the talents of Richard Brodie, Adam Schoenfeld, Jerry Buss, and Svetlana Gromenkova. In the most recent hand we witnessed we saw Brodie bet from under the gun preflop, he was then raised by the player in Seat 4, and Seat 6 made the call. Seat 7 then tried to raise, but there was some confusion if he actually did because he did not announce it he simply threw out a single chip for the raise, the floor was then called. Before the floor could even get to the table to make a ruling Adam Schoenfeld in the big blind three bet in Seat 7s place, to make everyone happy. All players who were involved with the hand called, and five players got to see a flop.

The cards came out {7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Schoenfeld lead the action with a bet, Brodie raised, and Seat 4 three bet. Two players then folded, Schoenfeld called, and Brodie folded. On the {9-Clubs} turn Seat 4 bet 100 and Schoenfeld called.

After the {4-Diamonds} landed on the river Seat 4 bet 100 again, and Schoenfeld called. Seat 4 tabled {A-}{A-} for a pair of aces, and Scoenfeld flipped over {K-}{K-} for a pair of kings.

"One Down, One to Go"

Before action began, "Crazy" Mike Thorpe told his table, "You guys are going to need to start gambling more!" He then raised from middle position and was called by Jonathan Little from the button and Mel Judah from the big blind.

The flop came {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{3-Spades}, Judah checked, Thorpe bet, and both Little and Judah called. The turn brought the {4-Diamonds} and Judah checked again. Thorpe tossed out a bet, Little folded and Judah called. Thorpe said, "One down, one to go" as the river brought the {k-Diamonds}. Judah again opted to check-call a bet from Thorpe.

Thorpe said "I think you've got me" as he tabled his {3-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for a pair of threes. Judah showed the {4-Spades}{2-Spades} for a pair of fours which was good enough to take the pot.

Ace High Beats Eight High

Victor Ramdin bet preflop and received one caller in the small blind. A flop of {3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{9-Spades} was spread out, the small blind checked and Ramdin bet. A {10-Diamonds} on the turn lead to a bet from the small blind and a call from Ramdin.

A {Q-Hearts} brought us a repeat of action with the small blind betting and Ramdin calling. It was time to see who won and the small blind sheepishly showed {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a busted straight draw, and Ramdin countered with {A-}{K-} for ace high.

Table 27 = Table Of Eternal Doom

We mentioned that Table 27 had Jason Mercier, Tim Finn, and Eugene Katchalov, but with with a closer look we realized they also have $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout champion Mark Radoja and Sorel Mizzi. This is as tough as it's going to get here on Day 1 of the $1,500 Limit Hold’em Shootout. More updates on this table to come

Radoja was involved in a hand early against one of the non-notable players at the table.

The player in the cutoff raised it up preflop and Radoja re-raised with the cutoff calling.

The flop came down {9-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} Radoja bet and the cutoff called.

The turn was the {a-Clubs} Radoja checked, the cutoff bet, and Radoja called.

The river was {6-Hearts} and again Radoja checked, the cutoff bet and Radoja called. The cutoff showed {a-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} which was enough to take down the hand. The recent bracelet winner fell to 2,525 after the hand but since then he is back up to around 4,100

Boatman Loses to a Boat

Barny Boatman put out a bet from early position and received a caller in the cut off. The dealer then put out a {6-Clubs}{10-Spades}{6-Spades} flop where Boatman put out a bet and the cut off raised, a call was made and it was off to the turn.

The {9-Clubs} on the turn lead to a check call from Boatman. After the {10-Clubs} spiked on the river Boatman again checked and the cut off bet again and Boatman begrudgingly called. The cut off exclaimed "if you have a 10 I'm going to be sick". Luckily for the cut off Boatman only had {A-}{Q-} for ace high. The cut off held {9-}{6-} for a full house sixes over tens. Even though Boatman lost the hand he still has a decent amount of chips and is in great shape this early on.

Chop Suey

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

Eugene Katchalov raised from the cutoff and Tim Finn re-raised from the small blind. The big blind and Katchalov called and they all saw the flop come {5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. Finn bet and both the other players called. The turn was the {10-Hearts} and Finn bet again. The big blind folded and Katchalov raised. Finn called and the river brought the {4-Clubs}. Finn bet out again and this time Katchalov just called.

Katchalov: {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Finn: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Finn had lead on the flop, Katchalov took the lead on the turn, but the river gave them both the wheel for a chop pot.

Middle Pair Is Good

A player in middle position raised it up preflop, Bryan Huang called, a player in the hijack re-raised and both players called.

The flop came {7-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, the initial preflop raiser and Huang checked and the hijack player bet out. The first middle position player called, Huang re-raised, the hijack re-raised the middle position player folded, Huang re-raised one last time to cap it and the hijack called.

The turn was {6-Clubs}, Huang bet and the hijacked called. The same thing happened on the river {3-Clubs} and Huang pointed at the hijack player basically implying he was good and he tabled {6-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a missed flush draw and middle pair. His opponent mucked however, and much to Huang's surprise he scooped the pot and is now up to 7,000.

Bellande Scares One Off

After the cut off put out a raise preflop Jean-Robert Bellande in the big blind nonchalently threw out some chips as he watched a movie on his Ipad, he intended to raise. After a moment of brief confusion the dealer announced to the cut off that there was a raise, and the cut off called.

{7-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{3-Spades} all rolled off and apparently neither player liked what they saw as they both checked. A {2-} on the turn allowed for Bellande to take control and bet. He was called and both players were awarded the {9-Clubs} on the turn. Bellande again bet, this time his opponent folded.
