Brownscombe Makes Matros Pay

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Matt Matros, who is the defending champion in this event, is down to 122,000 in chips after surrendering a pot to Tom Brownscombe.

The action folded around to Matros who raised from the cutoff; he found two callers in the form of Timothy Chauser from the button and Brownscombe from the big blind, so it was three-way action into a flop of {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{9-Spades}. Brownscombe and Matros checked to Chauser who opened the betting; Brownscombe was the only caller and he then led out on both the turn of the {2-Hearts} and the river {A-Diamonds}.

Matros called him all the way, tabling {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} but Brownscombe revealed {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} for the bigger pair. Brownscombe is now up to 180,000 in chips.
