Nearing the Top 100

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Action has slowed down a good amount in this last level, as we are slowly creeping to the top 100 players. Once we get down to the final 99, we will be exactly two tables away from the money. Until then, we expect that play will continue to be slow, as the short stacks will look to sure up a pay day.

Vaca Vanquishes Another

Nicolas Vaca
Nicolas Vaca

We don't know exactly how the action went preflop, but what we do know is when we got to the table Nicolas Vaca had his opponent all in with five cards to come.

Vaca: {A-}{K-}
Opponent: {A-}{Q-}

With a {3-}{6-}{4-}{6-}{9-} board, Vaca was able to rake in a 14,000 chip pot putting him near the top of the chip leaders in this tournament.

James and the Giant Chip Stack

James Routos
James Routos

When we caught up to James Routos we found him facing an all-in bet from his opponent in the big blind preflop. Routos thought for a few moments and dishearteningly through out the call. Cards were tabled and the flop was spread.

Routos: {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Big Blind: {A-Spades}{3-Clubs}

A {k-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} flop fell out of the deck giving Routos a leading pair of kings heading to the turn. With a {6-Clubs} planting on fourth street an ace would be the only thing to take this pot from Routos. A {q-Clubs} fell, and Routos added more to his continual growing mountain of chips.

Vogel's Flopped Monster Can't Extract Value

We caught up with the action on a {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop, where Mike Vogel deliberated a bit from the big blind position before checking. His lone opponent, Trish Baker, checked behind from middle position.

The turn brought a {6-Clubs}, check, check.

River: {K-Spades}

Vogel looked deep in thought, and eventually chipped out a 4,500 bet and pushed it into the middle, which was more than the pot.

"Nice bet," Baker said and folded.

Vogel flashed a {3-}{4-} for a flopped full house and mucked.

Vogel is sitting with about 40,000 while Baker is down to 24,000
