Dempsey Hoping for a Day 2

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

James Dempsey's playing his 10th event of the summer here today, and all he wants is to make a day two. He's making a good fist of it as he rose to 13,500 chips after getting Simon Charette off a hand.

Charette opened from the hijack and Dempsey was the only caller from thew small blind. The flop was spread as {8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{j-Spades} and Dempsey check-called a 350 bet before both players checked the {7-Clubs} turn.

Dempsey took this as his opportunity to to lead for lead for 1,100 on the {6-Spades} river. Charette didn't have the goods and folded.

Cantu Find the Value?

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

Brandon Cantu found three streets on thin value in a hand versus Bart Hanson to move up to more than 9,000 chips.

Hanson opened to 275 from early position and was only called by Cantu on the button. The flop fell {j-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{8-Spades} and Hanson check-called a 325 bet to see the {3-Diamonds} turn. He checked once more to Cantu who fired 700. Call.

Hanson faced a 825 bet on the {q-Hearts} river when he checked for a third time. This decision took him the longest but he still called, and then mucked upon seeing Cantu's {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}.

Bonding Doubles

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

A player from early position made it 250 to go preflop, and action folded around to Lars Bonding on the button who raised and made it 600. Next it was on to the small blind who made it 1,200. The early position player folded and Bonding moved all in for around 4,000. A call was made by the small blind and cards were turned over.

Bonding: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
Opponent: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}

A {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop prevented Bonding's opponent from hitting a winning flush as Bonding has already secured a full house, only an ace would do to deliver the knock out blow. A {j-Clubs} on the turn blanked out for both players, and a {k-Spades} on the river finalized the double up. Bonding now sits with around 9,000.

Blom Gone, Negreanu's on the Up

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante
Viktor Blom
Viktor Blom
  • Great start to no chips for Viktor Blom. Seat one at his table was the most likely destination for the Swede's chips.
  • Daniel Negreanu's on the up. He raised from under the gun and bet 350 and 800 on the flop and turn. The board read {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and the big blind stayed with the pace until the turn before ducking out.
  • Chris Moorman is up to 6,900. He opened to 250 from the cut-off and was called by the button and big blind. All three checked the {j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{q-Spades} flop. Moorman bet 525 on the {q-Clubs} turn, and 1,125 on the {3-Diamonds} river. He got rid of one player with each bet to take down the pot.

Zolotow Ousted

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

With a board reading {j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} spread on the table Steve Zolotow was all in and at risk by an unknown opponent. Zolotow possessed {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and immediately started heading toward the door when he saw his opponent's {10-Spades}{7-Spades} for a straight. Nothing could come on the river to save Zolotow and he was eliminated when the {3-} landed down on the river.
