Are You Ready for Some Razzle Dazzle?
It’s that time of the year again as the World Series of Poker is set to kick off the annual $2,500 Seven Card Razz event. Event 18 is the only Razz event on the 2012 WSOP schedule, outside of mixed games and H.O.R.S.E. of course. The game has a reputations as being drab and torturous, but still hundreds of players turn up each and every year.
Last year, this event attracted 363 players and created an $825,825 prize pool. It took four solid days of play, but eventually Rep Porter emerged victorious to capture his second gold bracelet and the $210,615 first-place prize. He defeated a stacked final table that included Stephen Su (2nd-$130,075), Tommy Chen (3rd-$83,895), Robert Williamson III (4th-$60,788), Chris Bjorin (6th-$33,338) and Scott Epstein (8th-$19,365).
While Porter’s victory was certainly notable, Bjorin’s back-to-back final tables in Razz were no less impressive. We expect many of last year’s final tablists to be in action today and joined by a plethora of pros including former champs Barry Greenstein, Jeff Lisandro and Frank Kassela. However, standing in their way will be PokerNews’ very own Mickey Doft, who’s an experience Razz player in his own right.
