Three Pots After The Break

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 0 ante

We just got back from break and the first three pots went down like this.

On the first one Phil Ivey raised on the button and Joe Cassidy called from the big blind. The flop came down {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Cassidy check-called Ivey's bet. The turn was the {5-Hearts} and both players checked. The river was the {Q-Hearts} and Ivey folded to Cassidy's bet.

On the next hand Scotty Nguyen raised the button and Ivey defended his big blind. The flop came down {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Ivey check-called. The turn was the {8-Hearts} and Ivey check-called another bet. On the river the {4-Hearts} popped up and Ivey check-folded. Scotty was nice enough to show his {9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{X-}{X-} for a full house and took down the pot.

The third hand was raised by Cassidy from the button and Ivey three-bet from the small blind. Cassidy called. The flop came down {10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Cassidy called Ivey's continuation bet. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and Cassidy raised Ivey's bet to 160,000. Ivey called and the river was the {2-Hearts}. Ivey checked called and showed {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. He took down the high with trips and Cassidy tabled {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for the low. Chop it up!

No Number Nine For Ivey?

Phil Ivey & Scotty Nguyen
Phil Ivey & Scotty Nguyen

Phil Ivey is getting dangerously short after he just lost two pots knocking him down to just 300,000 chips. On the first hand Joe Cassidy raised the button and Ivey three-bet from the small blind. Cassidy called and the flop came down {Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. Ivey bet, Cassidy raised and Ivey called.

The turn was the {3-Spades} and Ivey lead out once more, Cassidy called. On the river the {A-Diamonds} hit and Cassidy called another one of Ivey's bets. Ivey turned over {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and lost to {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{8-Clubs}{8-Spades}. Cassidy had top set and took down the pot.

A couple of hands later Ivey raised on the button and Nguyen three-bet him from the small blind. The flop came down {10-Spades}{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts} after Ivey had called and he called once more. On the turn, the {5-Clubs}, Ivey called another bet only to fold when Nguyen put out another 80,000 on the {5-Hearts} river.

Ivey is in serious trouble.
