Barbero Busts One

Stud-8

Nacho Barbero was quite active before the break and it has stayed that way into this level. Barbero recently eliminated one player when the player was all-in during the first round of betting in a Stud Eight-or-Better hand.

Barbero managed to make aces-up and with no high better than that, and no qualifying low, the player was sent to the rail, while Barbero raked in the chips.

MacPhee Scoops One Up

Stud-8

MacPhee: {x-}{x-} / {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{3-Clubs} / {x-}
Opponent: {x-}{x-} / {j-Hearts}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} / {x-}

When we arrived at the table, Kevin MacPhee and one opponent were already on seventh street and were committing one bet each. At showdown, MacPhee tabled his {a-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}, with his aces-up and eighty-five low enough to scoop up the sizable pot.

Raymer Gone

Omaha-8

When we reached Table 453, Greg Raymer was already all in with the board reading {6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.

"I'm not looking until the river," Raymer announced.

Mary Jones checked, Ralph Levy bet, and Kosei Ichinose called. Jones released, and the river brought the [2]. Both players checked.

Levy tabled {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{4-Clubs} for a pair of kings, Ichinose showed {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Spades} for the nut-low, and the two chopped the pot.

Raymer mucked, and was eliminated.

Micon Down Some

Stud-8

Despite managing to split a pot holding a seventy-six low against the two-pair of an opponent (another player was eliminated during this hand) , Bryan Micon has seen stack halved during the last couple of hours.

For those that aren't familiar with Micon, he has 13 World Series of Poker cashes, two of which have come this year. He was also at the final table of the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E event in 2009 - so he is certainly no stranger to games such as the two we are playing today.

It's a Stick-Up

Omaha-8

Yuebin Guo had the button, and raised. Perry Friedman called in the small blind, and so did Amnon Filippi from the big. The flop fell {5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{q-Hearts}, and Friedman led out. Filippi raised, and Guo called. Friedman called as well, and the turn brought a third heart - the {9-Hearts}. Friedman checked, Filippi bet, and both Guo and Friedman called.

The {k-Diamonds} completed the board, and all three players checked. Filippi tabled {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades}, and both of his opponents mucked.

"Ship it to daddy!" Filippi exclaimed. "Its a stick-up!"

Split, Split, Split

Level 11

The nature of today's event is that a huge amount of pots are split between the player with the best high hand and the player with the best low hand. We just watched this happen during both variants of games.

Omaha-8

This hand was between Bryan Devonshire and one opponent and it started when the player in the cutoff opened up the pot. Devonshire called and the dealer readied some cards.

Board: {10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

Devonshire's opponent check-called a bet on every street and then watched Devonshire table {a-Spades}{j-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a straight. His opponent held {a-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, with the ace-three enough to give him the low half of the pot.

Stud-8

Bryan Micon: {x-}{x-} / {4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{8-Clubs} / {x-}
Opponent: {x-}{x-} / {7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{6-Hearts}{j-Hearts} / {x-}

We arrived at the table on fifth street, with Bryan Micon check-calling a bet from one opponent. He did the same on sixth and again on seventh. Micon's hole cards saw him have an eighty-seven low, while his opponent held a flush to take the other side of the pot.
