Mattingsley Gone

We found Getty Mattinglsey all in before the flop only to be called by Hai Chu. The two players were racing as Mattingsley showed {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} to Chu's {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}.

The board ran out {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{8-Clubs} and Mattingsley was unable to improve his ace-king. Hai Chu gladly accepted the new chips to his stack and the field is now one step closer to a two-table re-draw.

Chu Busts Dawson

We found the board at Table 407 reading {A-Spades}{j-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{K-Spades} and Darin Dawson moved all in. Hai Chu quickly called and Hugh Henderson folded his hand.

"I've got the ace," said Dawson showing {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}.

Chu tabled {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for the nut straight. The {K-Hearts} completed the board and just like that Dawson was sent to the rail.

Chu is now sitting on a stack of about 1,300,000.

Soria Eliminated by Mefodichev

Bryan Piccioli opened to 35,000 from early position and action folded around to Frederic Soria, who pushed all in for his last 200,000 from the button. Directly behind him, Vladimir Mefodichev pushed all in himself from the small blind and Picciolio folded.

Mefodichev: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}
Soria: {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}

The {5-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{6-Hearts} board failed to improve Soria's hand and he was sent to the rail.

Mefodichev is up to 1.2 million.

Batell Battles Tzimas; Wins

Georgios Tzimas moved all in for his last 160,000 before the flop. Action folded to Michael Batell who announced all in over the top from the button. Lee Childs thought for a bit from the big blind before mucking his hand, causing the hands to be tabled:

Tzimas: {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}
Batell: {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

Batell was in need of some help on the flop and that is exactly what he found when it fell {7-Spades}{5-Clubs}{K-Spades}. Tzimas stood up at the sight of that flop and was headed to the rail after the {9-Clubs} turn and the {5-Diamonds} river.

Batell, on the other hand, is sitting on about 460,000 now.

Carl Edwards Eliminated in 18th Place ($26,414)

Carl Edwards - 18th Place
Carl Edwards - 18th Place

Vladimir Mefodichev opened to 45,000 from the cutoff only to find Carl Edwards ship all in from the small blind for his last 210,000. Mefodichev sat shuffling chips while pondering his action.

"It's a gamble," said Mefodichev before plopping down enough chips to make the call. Mefodichev showed {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and was against Edwards' {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}.

The flop came {5-Spades}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}.

"That makes it fun," someone from the other end of the table commented. Mefodichev was ahead with his pair but Edwards had any king, queen, or spade as outs.

Unfortunately for Edwards, the turn and river brought the {3-Diamonds} and the {8-Hearts} respectively, ensuring that he would be our eighteenth place finisher.

Victoria Coren Eliminated in 17th Place ($26,414)

Victoria Coren opened the action with a raise to 45,000 from the hijack. Randy Ashe called from the cutoff and Lanny Levine tagged along from the small blind as well.

The flop was {8-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{K-Spades} and Levine quickly tapped the table. Coren continued out with a bet of 150,000. Ashe thought for a moment before dropping 300,000 into the center and Levine got out of the way.

"Wow," Coren muttered. "Really?" About thirty seconds passed before Coren said "I guess I'm all in."

Ashe announced a call and showed {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} for bottom set which was crushing Coren's {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}. The turn and river were the {3-Clubs} and the {Q-Diamonds} and just like that Coren was sent packing.

Lee Childs Eliminated in 16th Place ($26,414)

Lee Childs - 16th Place

It was folded around to Lee Childs in the cutoff seat, who announced he was all in for a bit under 300,000. Action then folded over to Ryan Hughes in the small blind, who announced he was also all in. Everyone else got out of the way and hands were revealed.

Hughes: {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}
Lee: {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

Lee shot up from his seat and said, "C'mon!" clearly sweating the race situation.

Unfortunately for Lee, the {8-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{K-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} board left Hughes with a pair of jacks and Lee was eliminated.

Lee will take home $26,414 for his efforts today.
