Tapscott Makes Dent in Griffins's Chip Lead

It seemed like Gavin Griffin couldn't lose but Herbert Tapscott just made a little dent in the Triple Crown winner's chip lead. Tapscott raised to 120,000 from the button and Griffin defended his big blind. The flop brought {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and Griffin lead out for 60,000 after which Tapscott raised to 120,000. Griffin called and the turn was the {K-Spades}. Griffin check-called 120,000 and the river was the {7-Spades}. Griffin check-called another 120,000 and mucked when Tapscott showed {A-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for the nut flush.

Ashly Butler Down Then Up

Ashly Butler dropped down to 150,000 after he was scooped in pot by Herbert Tapscott, but he did manage to double back up the very next hand.

Butler felt like he should have folded on the river of a {7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{k-Spades}{5-Hearts}{6-Spades} board. His {a-Spades}{3-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} was bettered by Tapscott's {4-Hearts}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for a straight and a low hand.

Bulter three-bet his 150,00 the next hand and Trapscott raise-called with {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts}. Bulter opened {k-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}{5-Spades} and made two-pair on the {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} board.

Commanding Lead For Tapscott

In two big pots Herbert Tapscott has just taken over the chip lead by a big margin. In the first hand Griffin raised from the small blind to 120,000 and Tapscott defended from the big blind. The flop came down {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{8-Spades} and Griffin bet 60,000, Tapscott called. The turn was the {6-Clubs} and both players checked. The river was the {8-Clubs} and Griffin bet 120,000, Tapscott called.

Griffin showed {2-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{10-Spades} for a low but he got scooped by Tapscott who showed {2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for a better low and a pair of nines.

A few hands later Griffin raised from the button to 120,000 and Tapscott defended his small blind. The flop came down {8-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Tapscott lead for 60,000, Griffin called. The turn was the {9-Clubs} and Tapscott bet again. On the river the {5-Clubs} hit and Tapscott bet another 120,000. Griffin called and mucked when Tapscott showed him {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{7-Hearts} for a straight.

Butler Fades the World to Double

Don't count Ashly Butler out yet. He was sure someone used their, "One-time" for him as he faded a host of outs on the river.

Herbert Tapscott opened from the button and both blinds called to the {8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} flop. Butler bet 60,000 and only Tapscott called to the {10-Clubs} turn where he called a 120,000 bet.

The river was {9-Hearts} and Butler bet his last 30,000. Tapscott didn't call immediately but he eventually called with {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}{8-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, and lost out to Butler's {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{5-Spades} for two-pair.

Chip Counts Three Handed

We are still three-handed and chips are flying from one player to another. Butler is our short stack but just two big hands could turn that around. Tapscott has a big lead but as we've seen many times today, that is no guarantee for succes.

Ashly Butler
Ashly Butler

The end has come for the very pleasant mannered Ashly Butler from New Orleans.

Gavin Griffin called on the button before Herbert Tapscott raised to 160,000 and Butler called all-in for 150,000. Griffin called as well, and then the two checked the {10-Spades}{q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} board all the way down.

Butler opened {10-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}.
Griffin tabled {8-Spades}{9-Spades}{9-Clubs}{4-Clubs}.
Tapscott showed the winning {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades} and scooped.
