Shak Attack

San Shak has a six-figure stack after he made a flush on the river. There was action all the way down the {6-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}.

No low got there so Shak's {2-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} was good for the lot. His opponent wasn't happy but his moaning didn't wash with Shak

Hua Involved in Every Pot, Burt and Bonavida Staying Alive, Rossi Gone

That's a lot of names in one title but since they were all involved in three notable pots we decided to go crazy for a change. Can Kim Hua still has a commanding chip lead over his table mates but the few pots we just saw made it clear once again that this game has some massive swings.

On the first hand Bonnie Rossi raised under the gun to 8,000 and Hua called from the small blind. Yakovenko was in the big blind and folded after giving it some thought. The flop came down {8-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and Hua check-called a 4,000 bet. The turn was the {2-Spades} and Hua checked again to Rossi who bet 8,000. Hua announced a raise and Rossie called. The river was the {4-Clubs} and Hua threw out 8,000. Rossi had just 3,500 chips left behind if she would call and lose, but she went for it straight away. Hua turned over {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and his wheel scooped the pot. Rossi showed her {A-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} for a set of eights and a low but that wasn't enough to win any chips.

The very next hand Rossi was all in on the big blind and Raymond Bonavida raised to 8,000. Tim Burt three-bet to 12,000 and Bonavida called. The flop came down {K-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and Bonavida check-called 4,000. The turn was the {4-Diamonds} and Bonavida decided to lead for 8,000. Burt seemed frustrated and mucked his {A-}{A-}{3-}{5-} face up after which Bonavida showed {A-Spades}{a-Spades}{5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for a pair of aces and a low. Rossi showed her {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and was already drawing dead. She had no low possibility and Bonavida's pair of aces couldn't be beat by her hand.

The hand that followed after Rossi left the tournament was crucial for Tim Burt. Burt raised to 8,000, Hua three-bet to 12,000 and a player in the big blind moved all in for 11,000. After Burt had made the call the flop came down {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{9-Spades} and Burt check-raised Hua's bet to 8,000 and the call was made. The turn was the {8-Spades} and Burt fired out another 8,000, Hua called. The river was the {6-Hearts} and Burt threw his final 2,500 chips into the pot. Hua stared at the board hoping the river card would change, and double checking his cards also didn't give him a hand worth showing down. Hua mucked his cards and Burt showed {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{10-Spades} for the nut straight. The all-in player mucked and left the tournament while Burt is back up to 70,000 chips.

Plenty of action over at table #431 and we don't expect it to cool down as we are heading towards the final table!

Negreanu Down to a Bowl

Daniel Negreanu has had an awful time post dinner break. He just lost another pot to drop to 35,000 chips.

We missed the action but the final board read {2-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and the Canadian was shown {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. Negreanu tried to find the winning formula in his hand but the answers weren't there and he mucked.

Negreanu's seat was empty and we had to ask the players at his former table what happened. John Racener, Mikhail Petrov and Gavin Griffin were all paying attention and brought us up to speed.

Negreanu mucked at showdown with {7-}{4-}{2-}{2-}{q-} on the board when his opponent showed {A-}{2-}{3-}{7-} for the nut low and a full house. Unlucky for Negreanu who got his second cash of this year's WSOP and will probably be back tomorrow when the $5,000 Seven Card Stud tournament will be played.

Yakovenko's Run Ends

Nikolai Yakovenko started the day as the tournament chip leader but he is no longer in the tournament. Can Kim Hua raised to 8,000 and Yakovenko made it 12,000 from the big blind with 3,500 left behind. Hua put in the extra chips and we got to see an all-in showdown.

Can Kim Hua{A-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}
Nikolai Yakovenko{A-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{J-Clubs}

The board ran out {10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} giving Hua a flush and the entire pot. Yakovenko is out of here and we are down to 43 players.

Bad for Boyd

Dutch Boyd has a big task in front of him if he's going to get back in this. He was getting an amazing price to make a river call, but if you don't have the goods, you don't have the good.

The action folded around to Boyd in the small blind and he and the big blind went to war. It ended up with Boyd four-bet calling a five-bet for 25,000. The flop came {4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{k-Spades} and Boyd led for 5,000. Call.

The {9-Diamonds} came and Boyd check-called 10,000 to see the {k-Diamonds} river. He checked again and tank-folded to a 10,000 bet.

The big blind allowed him to pick two cards and {a-Hearts}{3-Clubs} were tabled. This caused Chris Conrad and other to laugh and the big blind was good enough to show his other two cards - {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}.

Lenaghan Sends Shak Out The Door

Dan Shak
Dan Shak

We just asked Ryan Lenaghan what happened to Dan Shak and he told us the following. On a {7-}{7-Spades}{6-Spades} flop Shak got his money in with {A-Spades}{3-}{7-Spades}{Q-} against Lenaghan's {A-}{2-}{8-}{9-}. The turn was a {5-} giving Lenaghan both the nut low and high. The river was the {J-Diamonds} which didn't help Shak who quietly left the tournament as Lenaghan shoots up the leader board.
