Gabaldon, who qualified for this event by winning the Harrah's New Orleans Casino Champion title, was up out of his seat and knew he was in a bad spot, especially after the flop delivered Musumeci a set. The on the turn left Gabaldon drawing dead, and after the was run out on the river, he joined his buddy on the rail and exited the Brasilia Room.
Arkadiy Tsinis raised to 8,500 under the gun and received a call from Nick Binger in the cutoff. Mitch Schock then three-bet to 25,000 from the button, Tsinis folded, and Binger moved all in. Schock had about 60,000 behind and called off.

Paul Sokoloff raised to 9,000 under the gun only to have Brian Rast, who was next to act, three-bet to 23,000. The rest of the field got out of the way, Sokoloff moved all in for 65,000, and Rast made a quick call.

Rast was in a bad spot, though the flop was about as good as he could have hoped for as it gave him a flush draw. "Wow," Rast exclaimed when the hit the turn and completed the said flush, leaving Sokoloff drawing dead. The meaningless was put out on the river for good measure and the stoic Sokoloff took his leave from the National Championship.
Jacob Naquin opened the hand for 8,500, Eugene Katchalov raised to 22,500 from the small blind and Chris Tryba moved all in from the big blind. Naquin folded and Katchalov called.

Nikolas Stone raised to 9,500 from the cutoff and then called Ryan Eriquezzo's all-in shove for 65,000 from the button.

A chop on such a hand was a good possibility, but not after the flop delivered Eriquezzo a pair of treys. Neither the turn nor river helped Stone, and Eriquezzo smile and said, "I'll take it."
Allen Kessler struck up a conversation with Amanda Musumeci over at Table 2 regarding her boyfriend. The latter quickly corrected Kessler and informed him that it was now her ex-boyfriend as the two had split on the fourth of July.
"I'm a single lady," Musumeci said for the record.
"I'm too old for you," Kessler shot back as if it was a proposition.
