With temperatures in the Amazon Room having plummeted to previously unseen lows, the artificial cold has many of the remaining 27 players talking.
Jon "PearlJammer" Turner has been seen blowing into his hands all day, trying his best to warm up. Maria Ho, meanwhile, was sipping on either a coffee or hot chocolate, while Nicholas Cardyn wore a dashing scarf to ward off the cold. Goran Filipovic has been heard asking passersby on the rail for gloves or mittens to no avail.
One player who does not appear to be fazed by the frigid temperatures, however, is Russian pro Ivan Demidov. Despite shivering his way to a double up yesterday, the Moscow native appears to have acclimated to the cold, as he is still sporting a short-sleeved T-shirt here today.
With the Amazon Room now being called the Antarctic Room by many players, we've compiled a few choice tweets regarding the freezer like conditions that have swept through the Rio.
Love my iPad, but a little embarrassed that I just now realized it could be used as a hand warmer to brave the Rio weather!Follow @PearlJammed
@WSOPTD Any chance to turn A/C a bit warmer in tourney area. Players will feel more comfortable& Rio gets to save electric. #WinWin4Every1Follow @LuckBoxJuanda
I'm not saying it's cold in here @WSOPTD but the drip from my nose just formed an icicle! #NotComplainingThoughFollow @SavagePoker
Thanks to our roving field reporter Matt Whitefield for these.

Columbia's Mayu Roca Uribe opened from the button and Michael Benvenuti called from the small blind. The pair shared the flop and Benenuti checked to his opponent. Uribe made it 6,500 to call and Benvenuti called.
The turn was checked by Benvenuti, who then folded when Uribe made it 16,500 to play.
Donnie Peters just told us a hand that saw Jamie Rosen double up through David Pham, again.
Earlier today Rosen got very lucky on the river again Pham. Well that just came good again.
Pham opened to 7,000 on the button, Rosen three-bet to 20,000 and Pham four-bet to 47,000. Rosen shoved for 126,300 and Pham instantly called.
Pham opened a pair of aces to Rosen's and Rosen looked dead and buried. That was until th eboard ran out to double Rosen up.

After being crippled with pocket aces on an earlier hand, David "The Dragon" Pham moved his last 37,800 into the middle with , but he was quickly called by Glynn Beebe and his .
When the flop fell , Pham's luck appeared to have run out, but the on the turn provided him with a lifeline.
River:
After using a miracle suckout to end Day 1 with a big stack, and losing those chips to another brutal beat here today, Pham has rode the roller coaster known as shorthanded NLH play to stabilize himself.

Antonio Lafosse has just helped himself to a decent sized put much to the frustration of Jon Turner.
Lafosse checked from the small blind with the board reading and saw Turner bet 9,500 from his seat in the big blind. Lafosse called and quickly checked when the completed the community cards. Turner pushed out a tower of chips totaling 26,500 and Lafosse called.
Turner:

When Turner saw Lafosse's hand he angrily slammed his cards onto the felt.

Two consecutive hands saw Ivan Demidov's stack shattered and rebuilt in short order.
First, Demidov opened for 7,000 and then called Stephen Chidwick's three-bet of 17,500 to take a flop of . Both players checked the baby card board, but when the turned, Demidov check-called a bet of 25,000. The then completed the board on the river, and Demidov checked for a third time.
When Chidwick fired a bet of 75,000 forward, the Russian pro flatted and turned over his for top two pair. Unfortunately for Demidov, Chidwick held the for trips on the flop, and he strung Demidov along the whole way.
On the very next deal, however, the Demidov managed to get his last 157,000 into the middle holding . Day 1 chip leader Nick Schwarmann looked him up with . When the board ran out a clean for Demidov, the Russian's snowmen had survived, giving him a crucial double to more than rebound from his previous loss.
