Niall Farrell Challenging Matt Matros for the Chip Leadership

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

When we came to Niall Farrell's table he had put his opponent all in on a board of {10-}{2-}{q-}{2-}{5-}. After thinking about it for some time, his opponent called but mucked when Farrell showed {9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for three of a kind.

After that hand Farrell began stacking his huge tower which looked to be above 90,000 chips.

Engel Can't Get Over The Hills

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

Andy Hills raised to 1,700 preflop. He found one call from Ari Engel in the big blind.

The flop came down {8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{10-Spades} and both players checked to see a {2-Spades} on the turn. On the turn, Engel fired 2,100 and Hills just called behind.

The river card came the {8-Clubs} and both players checked again. As he checked Hills announced "Nine," while tabling his {a-Spades}{9-Spades}. Engel mucked his cards.

Failla Gets Rivered

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

A player under the gun raised to 1,700 and action folded all the way around to Will Failla in the big blind. He called.

The flop came down {J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and both players checked to see the {6-Clubs} on the turn. On the turn, Failla bet 2,000 and was called by his opponent.

The river came the {5-Clubs} and Failla checked. The player under the gun and reached for chips for a bet abd before he could even make it, Failla prepared a call. The player ended up bett 4,700 which Failla called instantly.

The under the gun player turned up {A-Clubs}{5-Spades} and Failla mucked. After the hand Failla could be heard mumbling about it being "one hell of a river card."

Ari Engel Makes a Tough Call as the Bubble Aprroaches

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

On a board of {8-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{7-Hearts} a player had put out a bet of 5,600 with only Ari Engel left to act. It would cost Engel one fourth of his stack to call. Eventually after a spell in the tank, Engel threw in the chips for the call. His opponent nodded his head and slowly turned over his {8-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for just a pair of eights. Engel turned up his {K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} for second pair and it was good to take down the pot.

The call prompted a lot of "Wow"s from the table as it was a tough spot for Engel to call especially with only 10 players left to bust before the bubble burst.

Hand-For-Hand Play

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

Hand-for-hand play has been announced, which prompted the yell of "NOOOOOOOOO!" from one of the players. Regardless of what he wants, players are now on the money bubble.

Don Zewin the First Casualty of Hand-For-Hand Play

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Don Zewin in a tournament earlier in the series.
Don Zewin in a tournament earlier in the series.

Hand-for-hand play has been going on for three hands now without losing a single player. On the first hand Shelly Fine managed to double up with pocket nines against pocket tens by turning a four flush.

Two players need to be lost to reach the money and the first to fall was Don Zewin who fell on the third hand of hand for hand play.

Zewin was in the big blind and called a shove from a player on the button. When the hands were turned up Zewin was ahead with {A-Spades}{10-Clubs} against an opponent's {Q-}{6-}. The board ran out and gave a straight to the player on the button and Zewin was eliminated in 218th place.

With one player left to bust the bubble, another player doubled up on the fourth hand with pocket fives against pocket aces after rivering a set to stay alive.

We're still waiting to catch that bubble boy which could be any second now.

Bubble is Burst

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

On the fourth hand of hand-for-hand play the money bubble was popped. We missed the bubble boy but all the players are now in the money.

Jake Balsiger: The True Winner on the Bubble

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Jacob Balsiger
Jacob Balsiger

If there was any winner of money bubble it was not all the players who just cashed, but Jake Balsiger. Balsiger was able to take advantage of the pressure of the money bubble to greatly increase his stack size over the course of the last level.

Balsiger started after the last break with just about 80,000 chips but now he's up to a smooth 130,000 and looks to have taken over the chip lead here in the Brasilia room.

Failla Done In By Petros

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Zenni Petros and Will Failla began dueling when Failla arrived at the table. At the end of the battle it was Petros who came out as the winner. When we came by the table Failla had already been eliminated and Petros looked to be stacking all of the chips into his stack. Petros looks to be one of the chip leaders in the room now after taking out one of the biggest threats.
