Cerrutti Spikes Triple

On a {5-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop with 6,450 in the middle we found both blinds checking to Alberto Cerrutti who moved all in for 13,900. Adam Weinraub made the call from the button before the small blind folded only to have Gabriel Paul move all in for roughly an additional 20,000. Weinraub folded and Cerrutti was at risk.

Cerrutti: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Paul: {6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}

With Cerrutti needing to find an eight or two pair on the board to counterfeit Paul, the turn and river landed the {K-Clubs} and {5-Clubs} to see Cerrutti spike to stay alive and triple to 48,150.

Hertzog Starts Strong

We didn't get the preflop action but we did see Joseph Hertzog and his opponent move all in on the {k-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{q-Hearts} flop.

Hertzog: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Opponent: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

Both players flopped a set but Hertzog had, and would retain, the lead through the {2-Spades} turn and {j-Hearts} river. Hertzog is coming off a second-place finish in Event #39 just a few weeks ago.

Buckner Chomps Cigar, Collects Chips

Marc Goschel opened for 1,100 from the cutoff — a little over 2x — and got two callers in the blinds including Steven Buckner. The flop came {2-Spades}{Q-Spades}{A-Diamonds} and it checked to Goschel who continued for 1,800. His characteristic unlit cigar in his mouth, Buckner looked over the bet and the board for a moment then made the call, and the big blind stepped aside.

Both players then checked down the {5-Clubs} turn and {Q-Diamonds} river, and when Buckner tabled {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, Goschel tossed his cards to the dealer.

Rowsome's Aces Earn a Double

We walked up to the table as the cards were being revealed, and we saw that Adrienne Rowsome had gotten it in with the goods preflop, {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}. She had coolered Jeffrey Greenstein, who had {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. The flop kept Rowsome out in front, coming {6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{7-Clubs}, but the {q-Clubs} on the turn made her sweat. Rowsome asked for a red card, and while the dealer brought a black card, it was the {3-Spades}, giving her the win and the much needed double up, as she was down to just 12,700 before that hand.

Bardah Fills Up

On a board of {J-Clubs}{8-Spades}{J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and roughly 7,000 in the pot we found WSOP bracelet winner Ronnie Bardah leading out with a bet of 2,800.

His opponent went into the tank for nearly two minutes before eventually making the call.

Bardah rolled over his {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} and his opponent folded to see the pot pushed to the Brockton, Massachusetts native as he climbed to 90,000 in chips.

Weisner's Kings

Melanie Weisner (during Day 1b)
Melanie Weisner (during Day 1b)

The action folded around to Kenneth Gregersen, who opened to 1,200 from the hijack. Melanie Weisner then raised it up to 3,500 from the button, and was called by Chane Kampanatsanyakorn on the small blind. Gregersen folded after tanking for a moment, before the flop came down {4-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}.

After a check, Weisner bet out 5,300 and was called. The {5-Spades} fell on the turn, and another bet of 8,100, was check called by Weisner’s opponent. The {Q-Hearts} completed the board, and Kampanatsanyakorn instantly bet out 18,000. He was snap called, before turning over his {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}. Weisner then tabled her {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}, for the winning hand, as she scooped in the big pot.

Another for Ronnie

From the button, Ronnie Bardah opened to 1,100 and the big blind John Coffman defended to see a {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} flop.

Both players checked as the {4-Hearts} landed on the turn and Coffman tapped the table again.

Bardah fired out a delayed continuation-bet of 1,100 and Coffman immediately folded to see Bardah collect another pot.

Quads for a Double Up

A short-stacked Aaron O'Rourke put the last of his chips in the middle preflop against Michael Stembera. O'Rourke showed {a-}{6-}, but Stembera turned over {a-}{k-}, and O'Rourke would need help. That's exactly what he got on the flop, as the dealer spread {6-}{6-}{6-}, giving O'Rourke quads and leaving Stembera drawing dead. The meaningless turn and river were the {5-Hearts} and the {3-Diamonds}, and O'Rourke doubled up.

He continued building on the next hand, taking down the pot with a preflop three-bet and building his stack up to 24,000.
