John Roverto Eliminated in 23rd Place ($5,830)

Level 22 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
John Roverto
John Roverto

John Roverto was in the cutoff and got his short stack in before the flop against Anuj Bahl, who was in middle position and had him covered by a wide margin.

John Roverto: {K-Diamonds}{K-}{Q-Diamonds}{5-}
Anuj Bahl: {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

Roverto had the preflop advantage and Bahl needed to improve in order to stack him. The flop fell {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} to give Roverto a king-high flush and Bahl the nut flush. Neither the {7-Hearts} turn nor {3-Hearts} river changed anything, so Bahl took the pot to end Roverto's run in this event.

Le Chips Up Through Varnell

Level 22 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Four players saw a flop of {J-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and action checked to Craig Varnell who bet 80,000 from middle position. Ilian Le called from the cutoff, Anuj Bahl folded from the button, and Niklavs Zindulis called from early position.

The turn brought the {9-Hearts} and all three players checked.

The {9-Diamonds} fell on the river and Zindulis checked. Varnell bet 270,000, Le shoved for what looked like 350,000, Zindulis folded, and Varnell did the same immediately thereafter, so Le took the pot to chip up substantially.

Zindulis Doubles Through Li

Level 23 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante
Niklavs Zindulis
Niklavs Zindulis

Niklavs Zindulis opened to 80,000 from under the gun and Ilian Li raised to 270,000. Zindulis then called off his remaining 112,000 putting his tournament life on the line.

Li showed {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs} against Zindulis's {J-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts} The flop of {2-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts} had Zindulis drawing very live for a double with a flush draw to go along with open-ended straight draw. The turn of a {k-Spades} completed his flush and a meaningless {6-Spades} river fell to secure the double up.
