Alexander Emerges as New Chip Leader

Level 12 : 300/600, 0 ante

Big-O

James Alexander sat in the small blind when it folded to him. He completed his small blind and the Jared Koppel checked his option in the big blind.

The flop was {Q-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{J-Clubs} and both players checked. Alexander checked again on the {9-Clubs} turn, but this time Koppel bet 900. Alexander folded.

Alexander is sitting behind a huge stack and is very likely the current chip leader of the tournament.

"Pleasure Doing Business With You"

Level 12 : 300/600, 0 ante

PLO-8

The action folded to Matthew Woodward in the cutoff who raised it up to 1,500. Phil Hellmuth called from the big blind and the two exchanged a smile as they knew they were going to battle again. The flop came {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and Hellmuth checked to Woodward who bet 2,000. Hellmuth counted out his stack before just tossing in a call.

The turn brought the {a-Hearts} and both players checked to the {6-Clubs} on the river. Hellmuth checked one more time and Woodward pushed in a bet of 6,000.

Hellmuth sat upright in his chair, "Pleasure doing business with you sir," he said before mucking his cards. "I tried to trap you four times this hand. One time you're going to give me ten or fifteen thousand."

"It might happen," responded Woodward. "The shop is open."

Cohen Doubles Through Zhigalov

Level 12 : 300/600, 0 ante

Big-O

Andrey Zhigalov and Joshua Cohen were heads-up on a flop of {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. Zhigalov led out for 2,100 from the hijack and Cohen flat-called from the cutoff. The turn brought the {q-Clubs} which spurred on a flurry of action.

Zhigalov began with a check and Cohen bet 4,200. Zhigalov asked for a count of Cohen's remaining chips and then raised the pot to 21,000. Cohen just called, leaving himself with around 5,000 behind. The {2-Diamonds} landed on the river and Zhigalov quickly stuck in a stack of chips. Cohen called off his remaining 5,000 and the hands were tabled.

Zhigalov showed {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for a queen-high straight and Cohen turned over {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for a king-high straight. With no low hands possible, Cohen scooped the entire pot and earned himself a double up.

Wood Wins Most of It

Chris Ferguson
Chris Ferguson

Big-O

While the flop was already on the table, in the form of {3-Clubs}{J-Spades}{5-Diamonds}, Chris Ferguson was facing a bet of 5,100 from David Wood. Ferguson made the call and so did Pascal Leyo on the other side of the table.

The turn was the {K-Diamonds} and Wood pushed all-in for 800. Ferguson pushed all-in for a little more and Leyo called.

Pascal Leyo: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{2-Clubs}
Chris Ferguson: {A-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}
David Wood: {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}

The river was the {J-Diamonds} which gave Wood the full house to scoop the high hand and Ferguson won the side pot with his full house.

The Rich Get Richer

Level 13 : 400/800, 0 ante

PLO-8

On a flop of {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades}, James Alexander was in the big blind and check-called a bet of 4,000 from George Alexander. The turn brought the {q-Diamonds} and James Alexander checked again. George Alexader bet the pot of 14,400 and James Alexander quickly called.

The {8-Clubs} landed on the river and James Alexander potted, which was enough to put George Alexander to the test for his remaining 19,000 chips. George Alexander thought for a minute and then made the call.

"Do you have both?" George Alexander asked.

James Alexander responded with a nod and tabled {j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs} for the nut straight and the nut low. George Alexander couldn't believe what he ran into as he headed to the rail.

Zhigalov Takes One Down

Level 13 : 400/800, 0 ante

Big-O

Andrey Zhigalov opened with a raise to 1,900 and Allen Cunningham was the only player to call from the button.

The flop was {2-Spades}{3-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and both players checked to see the {9-Diamonds} turn. This time, when Zhigalov checked to Cunningham, he bet 3,100 and Zhigalov called. The river was the {7-Spades} and both players checked it down.

Zhigalov showed {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}{Q-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and his flush was good enough to win the high portion of the pot. Neither of the players could make a qualifying low hand and the full pot went Zhigalov's way.
