Greg Raymer Climbing

Level 8 : 300/600, 0 ante

2004 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Greg "Fossilman" Raymer joined the field near the end of late registration and has already started to chip up. Raymer raised to 1,600 from middle position and got one caller from the big blind.

The flop came {Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Raymer's opponent check-folded to a 3,000 bet, and Raymer scooped the pot to put him over double the starting stack.

Fabrice Soulier Triples Up

Level 8 : 300/600, 0 ante

The player in the cutoff opened to 2,100, Fabrice Soulier moved all in from the small blind for about 2,600, the big blind called to put himself at risk, the cutoff called as well, and all three players tabled their hands.

Soulier: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
Cutoff: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Big blind: {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}

The board ran out {J-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}{J-Clubs}, giving Soulier the nut flush. However, he turned his cards over and tossed them forward, but the dealer caught them and spread them back out. He explained that because Soulier had already very clearly tabled his hand, it was still live, and he took the main pot to triple up.

Daniel Clemente Chips Up

Level 9 : 400/800, 0 ante

With about 20,000 already in the middle and the board reading {8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, Jessica Dawley bet 6,000 from middle position and Daniel Clemente moved all in from the button for approximately 26,000, putting Dawley to a decision for the vast majority of her stack. The small blind had already committed all his chips before the flop, so action was heads-up between Clemente and Dawley, and she went into the tank. After over a minute, she ultimately folded, and the two remaining live players tabled their hands.

Clemente: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Small blind: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{7-Spades}

Clemente had a commanding lead with his kings and king-high flush draw, and neither the {4-Clubs} turn nor the {8-Hearts} river was any help to the small blind, so Clemente took the pot to eliminate the small blind and put him over the 50,000 chip mark.

John Holley Doubles

Level 9 : 400/800, 0 ante

With about 4,000 chips already in the middle and the board reading {K-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts}, both blinds checked, John Holley checked from under the gun, and two more players in late position and the hijack checked behind.

The turn brought the {2-Hearts} and the small blind checked. The big blind bet 3,000, Holley moved all in for about 9,500, the middle-position player folded, as did the hijack and small blind, and the big blind called to put Holley at risk.

Holley: {A-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}
Big blind: {9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{2-Clubs}

Holley held the nut straight with a redraw to the nut flush and was well ahead of his opponent's set of deuces. The {J-Hearts} fell on the river to give Holley the nut flush and secure his double-up.

Big Rick Stacks Dawley

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 0 ante
Jessica Dawley
Jessica Dawley

With about 15,000 chips already in the middle and the board reading {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}, Rick "Big Rick" Ellerman checked from the small blind to Jessica Dawley in the big blind and she bet 8,000. After a few moments of contemplation, Ellerman check-raised the size of the pot to put Dawley to a decision for the remainder of her stack and she called.

Dawley: {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades}
Ellerman: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{5-Spades}

Both players had flopped trip fives, but Ellerman had the advantage with the better kicker. The {K-Hearts} on the turn gave Ellerman a full boat and left Dawley drawing to the last two sevens in the deck, but neither one of them arrived on the {Q-Clubs} river and Ellerman took the pot.
