Ray Henson is among the players who recently took seats in the rapidly growing event. He's having an outstanding WSOP so far in 2017 with eight total cashes and three final tables. One of those came in the $1,500 PLO8 event, so his game should be sharp as ever here as he seeks to close the deal.

King is the Early King

Level 1 : 100/200, 0 ante

Chris King was getting all of his chips in on the river when he got to his table. The board had come {7-Spades}{2-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{6-Spades} and King held {k-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for the nut flush. His opponent put his stack in with {a-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for the second-nut on high but had no low, so King got the whole pot after it was determined he had his opponent covered.

Clements Lets Groth Have One

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Nathan Gamble opened for 600 and got a call from Tyler Groth before Scott Clements made it 2,000 to go. The small blind called, Gamble released, and Groth made it three to a {6-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{j-Diamonds} flop. Everyone checked, bringing a {k-Hearts}. Groth bet 4,000 and Clements called. On the {4-Clubs} river, Groth fired again for 6,000. Clements didn't think long before tossing the dealer his cards.

Matt Glantz, Dylan Linde, and Dan Shak have also joined the tournament.

John Monnette Three-Quarters Alexey Makarov

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

John Monnette was in the cutoff, heads up against Alexey Makarov on the button. Both players had put in 1,700 preflop and the flop came {A-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Spades}. Monnette bet 1,200 and Makarov called. The turn was the {8-Clubs} and both players checked. The river was a brick and Monnette bet 6,500 and Makarov thought for several seconds and then called.

Monnette had {A-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades} for a three-five low and aces and sixes for the high. Makarov had a worse low and the same high with {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades} to take one-quarter of the pot.

John Monnette Up Early

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

John Monnette, who added WSOP bracelet number three to his resume this year, has added another half a starting stack so far in the early levels of today's event.

Monnette won the $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball tournament earlier this series to capture his third bracelet and seems poised to make another deep run after finishing 17th in the $10,000 Stud Hi-Lo Eight or Better Championship.

On this hand, Monnette fired twice and won the pot when Shawn Nguyen folded.

The flop was {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Monnette bet 1,200. Nguyen was the only caller. The turn was the {4-Hearts} and Nguyen checked. Monnette bet again, tossing out 4,000 and Nguyen folded.
